Actually, Abiola sued Fela but it was withdrawn, either due to the bad publicity to Abiola or the impending loss.

What Abiola did, as claimed by Fela, was that Abiola made a false allegation of robbery against Fela, that Fela robbed Abiola's wife even though Fela claimed he was having a show at NTA, several miles from where the robbery occured.

Fela was jailed on this lie by Abiola.

There is a full Fela documentary that was shot by the French government. I'll have to look for it. Fela said so many things in that documentary.
