Like the Hard drive, a USB flash drive stores data in its memory from which the operating system gets to fetch the data for use as required by the user. Its major advantage over the local hard disk is the size which makes it handier and frequently used.

Quite a number several things can be responsible for making the USB drive inaccessible among which are improper unmounting of the drive from the port and invalid data in the Master Boot Record (MBR) or Partition Boot Record (PBR) or directory structure on the USB drive.

Other reasons may be grouped into physical and logical corruption. Common physical corruption includes broken stems and connectors, dead drives due to no power supply, broken circuit or NAND gate, not recognised, RAW, need to format, and not accessible etc.

Logical issues can be related to virus infections or improper unmounting.

To recover files from an unresponsive flash drive, the first thing to be considered is the reason for corruption or inaccessibility. Is it Logical or Physical?

DATA RECOVERY FROM LOGICAL ISSUES

For logical issues, all you need to do is to repair the file structure in order to make the USB flash drive more accessible.

Follow the steps below to scan for logical issues on windows:

Insert the USB drive into the USB port of your system

When hard drive stops responding or not showing in the computer then it's not easy to recover data as the software is able to recover files when it is detected by the system. However, there are possibilities of data recovery even from the undetected hard drive, if it is detected in the software interface. I personally like Stellar Phoenix Windows data recovery software, with the help of this software we can easily check whether this software is detected by the system or not without paying anything.
