Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is currently holding a meeting with prominent Yoruba leaders in what was believed to be part of moves to forge a common front with the Yoruba leaders ahead of the 2019 presidential election.

The meeting holding at the house of a prominent Yoruba leader and Afenifere chieftain, Pa Ayo Adebanjo in Lagos has in attendance other leaders of the pan - Yoruba socio- cultural organization.

They included Prof. Akin Mabogunje, Mrs. Awolowo Dosumu, Pastor Tunde Bakare, Mr. Supo Shonibare and Mr. Yinka Odumakin.

Others are Otunba Gbenga Daniel, and Olusegun Mimiko, former Ogun and Ondo state Governors respectively.

The babas don't represent the youths again, gone are those days joor. Like one Nairalander said above, each of them can hardly win his local ward.

The orientation of the Yorubas is quite different from other people. We have multiplicity of cultural & political values. Mainly, Yoruba will not support an ideology without a cause. Pa Fasheun established Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) an Awo party, Chief Falae registered SDP (MKO June 12 party) while Yinka Odumakin used various groups to cajole Yorubas to support GEJ but they failed. Pa Adebanjo on GEJ financed centre page guardian interview insulted chief bisi Akande, opened Pandora box, washed dirty linen in public. He gave the political history of Chief Akande from Action Group till Alliance for Democracy. He said so many things out of frustration, just because he wanted the Yorubas to support GEJ. Gani Adams of OPC was in their camp. They all know they cannot change the Yorubas decision against GEJ, but they worked very hard for the money.

As it is now, no single group or group of individuals has major influence on the Yoruba people. This is a serious crisis. Obj & all these people have no political influence over the Yoruba people. They may work with traditional rulers, distinguished Yorubas in academia & captains of industries to create a common front. That is a future task & a very difficult one.

As it is now, Obj is only discussing with people that have no political value & control

All these people Obasanjo has been meeting can not win in their local ward. Atiku keeps jumping from party to party. Obasanjo keeps meeting people with zero political value to advance his dead on arrival project. Elections are won by votes and not by courting ineffectual and pretentious local leaders and ex convicts.PMB will tear them all to pieces!

...you have said it all... he wants to create an impression he can do what ten of him can't... Shiorr

You made a mistake my friend, they might not be recognized but they're men that are sure of their region. it's had time Bihari left the presidency for someone who doesn't open the office door for animals to come in.
