SUPERPACK:we haven't started any mechanical courses. We just did basic mat phy and chem with some gst courses last semester. My problem i identified is that i sat at the back seat and didnt read that much. |

Amakababe:my advice to you is to try to make amends to the mistakes you made last semester, and see if their will be change. secondly focus more on understanding the course and less on the first class, it seems to be stressing you up. examinations sometimes is nt the yardstick of knowledge, some find it hard to pass due to exam fear, Go after excellence and success will run after you. 1 Like |

Amakababe:you for attend tutorials na and then study any topic wey they lecture and you no understand (and meet others if need be). u really need to work hard/smart This semester. Eat past questions as much as your brain can take and attend tutorials (find just one and attend: don't attend NIFES today, FCS next week, RCCG upper week etc so u don't get yourself confused by different methods employed by different tutors) ---the space between each course lecture is always one week, never allow yourself enter the second week class without having understood the lecture of the previous week. If u can't get the help u need in any course, GOOGLE is your friend and YouTube tutorials are also okay. just give it all it takes and trust God, he can help you- 1 Like |

Well. As for me, I narrowly escaped 2.2. My yr1 1st semester was 3.2 while my second semester was 4.0. I graduated with 3.51. All tru my yrs in school, I was hovering around 2.1 and 2.2. It wasn't easy Buh thank God for his mercies. If there's one thing dat helped me a lot in school, dat wud b group readings. I was ready to learn and to b taught by my mates. And yeah! I graduated from d dept of Chem Engr where sadists lives. There was no first class graduate in my set. Dat made me appreciate my 2.1 very much. We always had a general reduction of marks across board wen it is noticed most people scored an A' in a course. It is considered an insult to d lecturer. Buh if d reverse is d case, d dept won't mind publishing d result. So, in dat kinda dept, 2.1 is equivalent to a 1st class personally. My advice! Know ur weak points and tackle dem. Organise group reading (just few) Eat well, sleep well, read well and pray well. Be neutral, keep off from lecturers, ( dis made some of my class mates not graduate cos dey had to sought) lecturers sometimes fails dem on purpose. Attend lectures, write tests and assignments urself. Even if u don't do d assignments urself, photocopy d copied work and study, it sometimes might b part of ur exam question. Balance ur life e.g social, academic, prayer life etc. Most importantly, let God b d centre of everything u do. Wish u d best. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

I started with 4.49 and at the end of my programme, I graduated with 4.58. Seriously speaking first class is a trash in this country. |

Hi Dear, Trust you're doing great? I started with a CGPA of 4.77 in my first year, and I graduated with a CGPA of 4.75 (University of Benin). In my first year, I was quite aware of the numerous distractions such as fresher's parties, fellowship welcome parties amongst others. However, I developed a feasible and flexible reading timetable (with one subject per day for 4 hours). I studied in the library, common room, several lecture theatres until I discovered the perfect place I assimilated faster which was in the reading room in one of the hostels. In accordance to this, I'll suggest you study yourself (I believe the first year should be used for self discovery and development), know where you read and assimilate faster and be disciplined when it comes to your studies. In addition, attend fellowship at the stipulated time, evangelize if you want to, but make sure you're smart. Endeavor to read as early as possible in the new semester (I often start my reading following the first week of resumption), get enough materials, tryout the reading patterns (E.g. read, recite and re-read, please consult your GST) and be prayerful. In sum, be dedicated to your studies, give it more attention and be prayerful. Cheers as you perform better next semester. Kind regards. 2 Likes |

Amakababe: Mistakes made in Yr1... Euphoria of getting Admission to study Chemistry in University of Port Harcourt. I never attended lectures, didn't know my colleagues. Later met two of my colleagues who didn't help me...we absented from classes and missed CA's. Strength: Strong foundation in secondary school and God's grace (utmost strength). Optimism and Semester setting of targets. Sacrifices: I sacrificed my meals to buy textbooks beyond my scope. I sacrificed my social life...to remedy my grades. I sacrificed my sleep...cos I spent virtually all my semester nights in reading TDB. I paid a rent off-Campus but never slept in it. Advice: My dear...brace up and aspire for 2.2. Who told you 2.1 is near. I had 3.38 1st semester, 2.98 second semester Yr1 (3.18 CGPA)... All my struggle to get first class eluded me even with High GPA's 2nd 3rd 4th Year (4.5 CGPA on average). I just succeeded graduating with 4.02 (2.1). To be realistic... You can make 2.2 (3.0 CGPA) if you brace up and avoid distraction. Your concern shouldn't just be to make a good grade and get a white collar job... But to graduate with ur mates with something close to excellent grade and create an empire to employ first class brains. Change ur mindset today...start thinking of what to do to be self employed, look for the closest automobile industry/workshop and enrol for volunteer job or apprenticeship and learn. Get practical exposure which so many first class graduates lack. Hands on the job is better than certificate!!! A step in the right direction: Avoid friends and things that wouldn't help u achieve success. Success is sweet and breeds friends. Don't invest ur time or resources in making friends, rather invest in success... Success breeds friends and acquaintances!!! 3 Likes 1 Share |

When will you folks realize that this conventional schooling system doesn't pay anymore... "Go to school so you can get a job when you graduate with a 2'1" is the worst thing your parents told you. Dyu know that if you study programing for 5years on your own, you will certainly be better than some1 who went to waste time in school studying computer science. this is just a crude example but you get the point. Mind you,I hold a 2'1 in mechanical engineering, but our schooling SYS is not helping, schools create parasites that depends on the society for survival, it shouldn't be so, they should create great minds that should impact on the society not the other way. In electrical Engr 300Level. Futminna. I fit help you out. But 1st class no de possible again. If you even graduate with Upper pls be very happy it means u worked very hard. The goal now is just so this semester moves ur CgPa above 1.5... So we'll be looking at 3.0 at least. But with the method I'd give you, you ll get nothing less than 4.0 if u re serious and apply my methods. Everything depends on your determination and re awakening your confidence. It is very easy to make a first Class in 100lvl second semester given there's just 18unit workload since practical was done in 1st Sem. Also just 3 three unit course unlike 5 in 1st semester. So everything brings u above 2.0 all in all if u re able to hit 4.0 at least. Then You'd apply for another dept. I'd recommend transport mgt or Project mgt which has some rtionship with Engine course. Sent you a mail already. Btw, hope you've resumed? 1 Like |
