Meanwhile we have schools of engineering and other major disciplines that could gradually handle things before they got this bad.
If only our institutions look at development as projects instead of means for contracts I am sure students could work with consultants on repairs and development of their environment as projects with little funds and feel proud of it leaving their names behind into the future.

Instead of having state of the art wiring and access control, lighting and well built pavements designed by campus engineers we are having disgusted dilapidated shitty campus. Go to the lecture rooms, no place is spared from the effect of this ignorance.
And our government will spend the trillions of Naira this year without addressing any of these issues.

As at the time I was there, they were paid cleaners and we usually had clean up exercise by the students every last Saturday. Maybe they have stopped paying the workers. It's quite clear that most of the students are dirty but the hostels needs total renovation. The toilets and bathrooms are not even enough to serve the students. Imagine a situation where you will have to queue up for more than 30 minutes to get a turn to use the toilet or the bathroom. The students have a lot to do and the government even a lot more to do to sanitize that place.

Since you spent at least four years in the university, would you be kind enough to explain how the government is different from the people?

To think I survived 4 years in that shit hole.

The system is just bad from the top down. And most times the problem is from the Students.
The cleaners are working very hard cleaning the hostels but the boys occupying the hostels are very recalcitrant.
They break the rules all the time and they lack maintainance skills, most of them are squatting thereby using every hostel facility very badly.
Well, measures are being put in place and in a matter of time, The two twin hostels will be restored to their Glory.

I flagged this some months ago; and some hungry Lions in the house almost had me for dinner.
We get what we ask for. Surely every student in UNN should be eligible to vote. If they decide to sponsor a candidate to the senate or house of rep, their collective votes will earn them a true representative in the legislature and probably a voice to correct this madness. If young men and women can come together under the auspices of cultism, form blood bonds and then turn around and start stabbing each other in the name of beef, what stops them from burying their seeds of selfish discord, build bridges, come together and unite under one strong united front of Nigerian students. Western nations recognize this, hence almost every presidential debate in Europe or the US is held in a university. Every political campaign is launched in a university or college. If the SUG president of UNN can liaise with other SUG presidents across the country, imagine what a potent political force they can come up with. The very people currently running this country loot the country dry, funnel the funds overseas to provide the best education and lifestyle for their offspring, and at the same time promote this cesspool of an environment for the average Nigerian student to wallow in. Nigerian students, rise up and vote out all your fathers and grandfathers who continue to hold your future hostage. Get your PVC today.
