They run to hide in the dark But a spark of light drags them out to surface . They follow you around like your shadow Dine with you on 'same table Happy to be around in times of sorrows Giving condolences, one they are able . They run to hide in the dark But a spark of light drags them out to surface . They are proud to be counted amongst friends Bearing sword supposedly for your defence But go round to chair the Pharisees Selling you off for Penny pence . They run to hide in the dark But a spark of light drags them out to surface . During sunny days, they appear When night falls on you, they vanish away Fake as fear, only a mirage that appears Real.
