The Otedola Bridge fire incident has left many people in shock, while many are calling on the government to be proactive and be in charge of its duties, many are blaming the law enforcement who turn blind eyes to these killers on the road, they accused the LASTMA, FRSC of ignoring these trucks of death and always chasing after private cars. AutoReportNG did a bit of an exposee into what countries like UK, Canada and US are using.

To be sincere, it's a rare sight seeing fuel tankers on the road in the advanced country, an investigation into the UK and other countries show that fuels are transported using the rails and this makes them faster without any rancor. For those who will remember, there used be railways at Ijora-Apapa axis of NNPC depots back in the 1990s, this railway helps to decongest the roads and also our roads last longer.

For people who school at Anglican Primary School, Baptist and lots of others in Marine Beach in the early 1990s will recount when railways are used to deliver petroleum products, but reserve seems to be the case as the rails are dismantled and the place is now a death trap.

The question now is when will Nigeria get it right?

When will powers that sit in high places allow us to have a functional railway system to salvage all these deaths in our nation?

When will the youths take the destiny of Nigeria and make it our priority?

These are places where things works. Nations with leaders. Our rulers here see these things when they travel out to these beautiful places, but because of their greed they don't want to replicate same here. Which way Nigeria?

undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided Corruption is more deadly than virus! That is d virus that is killing development in Nigeria until that is seriously addressed I see Nigeria far from development.

Do u know how much NNPC pay for the rent of those fuel tank vehicles per trip? Are u aware that d owner of these fuel tank vehicles are big men in politics, senior staffs in oil companies e.t.c.

These selfish rich individuals would not allow their source of extra cash income to die. They will rather frustrate any innovation that will render their fuel tank vehicles useless.

Keep voting for old men and expect modern innovations. What do men like buhari and atiku in their 70's have to offer we youths? Yet people keep rooting for them and expecting Nigeria to be like London

Your post is a little misleading simply because they move fuel on public roads all over the world even though they also move fuel via the rail system. Fuel transportation and means of transportation depends on a lot of factors.

In Nigeria, we also move petroleum products via rail, but because of decades of rot, neglect, corruption and incompetence, we are not 100% complaint.

Luckily for us, the rail system in Nigeria is getting maximum attention as we speak with cross country modernization and billions of dollars worth of rail investments.

We are almost there.

Did you read the Apapa part I mentioned? I never said we did not, but that's back in the 1990s, not now. When was the last time fuel was moved by rail in Nigeria?

Until Nigeria is restructured, there will be no peace and progress. Some people still support Buhari, despite the fact that people are dying and Buhari does not support restructuring, instead he wants every State to give free land to Fulanis.

Restructure the zoo, so sane tribes can build their infrastructure, but they want to share the land to their tribes.

And idiots are supporting the man.

I did not see anything wrong by transporting petroleum products on the roads because for now we don't have functional railway system's to transport them instead we should consign on how to move the petrol depots and tank farms out human populated areas to other state's with access to seas with less human population to reduce casualties like this, we have koko and oghara in delta state ikot abasi and ibuno in akwa ibom state ogu bolo and buguma in rivers state, this are the areas we should be contemplating and this is diversification until we go back to rail system

Well its a fact they aren't doing enough. You can go on IG see plenty of examples of craziness. There's more that needs to be done since idiots abound. They need to fined and caged. The rail question depends on government doing necessary reforms to make NRC efficient and investing in rail like they plan to.

That doesn't alter the fact that they move petroleum products on public roads all over the world so it's not limited to Nigeria.

What you can not deny is the fact that the current FG prioritized rail infrastructure so o need to paint a false narrative that we are not on the right track.

Moving fuel by rail was scheduled to start this month so moving fuel via rail is more or less a settled issue..
Re: See How Fuels Are Transported In Other Countries - Photos by deomelo: 8:07pm On Jun 29, 2018
Our issue is not really moving fuel on public roads. the issue remains road safety and traffic regulations especially considering the fact that a danfo driver over-speed, lost control and ran into the fuel truck.

It's always sad and disheartening when people die needlessly, but running your own country down while you glorify other places is just unnecessary especially when in fact such incidents transpires in the places you are glorifying.
