La beauté de la créativité

Creativity is not limited to craft, nor drawing or painting, it also extends to writing,
Painting with words to express oneself, either in letters or orally (Spoken Word).

The group is to help us develop individually as our work will be subjected to constructive criticism/reviews
As well as debate, and advise.

It's also a platform to teach, and shape us.

A day will come when the story inside you will want to breathe on its own, and that's when you'd start writing

POLICE IS YOUR FRIEND.

NOTE: "This is not to insult the Nigeria Police Force,"
Rather, it is dedicated to the bad eggs hidden among the good ones'.

The Police Is Your Friend  (PISYF!!!)
“The police is your friend.”
This has been the motto of the Nigeria police since the inception of the NPF (Nigeria Police Force).

"The Police is your friend."
That's the motto,
That's what they say...
"They call him my friend."

Motto, dead as scrap,
Rot as egg, stink as corpse.
Words Impotent as prick,
Lame as sagging breasts,
Breasts sagging-
Like bag of salt!
"Such eye saw."
See lie, as black-burnt-
As coal.
Coal as black-burnt
As lie...
My lamentations...

"The Police is your friend."
Whoever said it,
Was either ignorant,
Or part of 'em-
Black-blue uniform grieve-
Inflicting circus...

Returning from-
His factory work 9:00 pm
That too mean angry-
Monday night...
Never knew the devil,
Had set him up with his son (the police).
First, He held him up,
Second, he took all his money,
Third, he took his fake Gucci watch too.
Punched him in the ribs.
And young man couldn't eat-
Nor breathe for days thereafter.
X-ray says fractured ribs.

He killed Mutiu
The bus conductor,
All for shandy,
Under the bridge at Oshodí,
See this son of satan.

Caroline's pregnant belly,
He ripped opened with stray bullet...
Christ!

Kola, O.A.U finalist,
He killed along sàgàmu road,
To dispossess boy of fees-
And shoes.
This son of Lucifer, tagged him: "ROBBER KILLED IN ACTION."
"ROADKILL", made a roadkill.
Still, "The Police is your friend."

I reported an abuse of me
To him,
Said, 'cept I grease his palms
He wouldn't do the needful,
Three hours after I helped myself
He came,
Picked me up,
Beat me up,
And locked me up.
Damn! How he fxcked me up.
Still, tied me up,
As my assailant
Now complainant did greased his-

Said till I pay the bail.
After all, they say: "bail is free..."
Yet, "The Police is your friend."

He terrorizes all,
As the prince of hell...
Dead drunk with all-
Taped AK47 in hand,
Ancient rusted cuffs,
And empty tear gas canister-
Dances on his waist
His uniforms,
All thread bare-
With patches in the bottom...
His toes peeping out of his fake shoes,
Terrorizing the civics
For no just course
But for drunk course.
Somebody help, help, heelp!
Before this terror-
In black-blue-black uniforms,

REASON WHY I HATE THE GUY-IGNORANCE

There’s just a thin line between *“IGNORANCE AND SIN,”*
Line, line like that drawn by a Pencil, that even the air can’t squeeze through
And would be squashed if it eventually do…

Sin is destructive, eats all up like cancer, same with ignorance: both are self detrimental.

"Ignor-ance," according to the Merriam Webster dictionary: is The state or fact of being ignorant, that is Lacking in knowledge, education, or awareness.
Wiki, says the word ignorance is an adjective, that is Describing a person in the state of being unaware, And is often (incorrectly) used to describe individuals who deliberately ignore Or disregard important information or facts.

Honestly, I'm not criticizing these definitions, and Wiki's view, but the word ignorance isn’t incorrectly used to describe individuals who deliberately ignore Or disregard important information or facts, because, that’s what they do.

Now, look at it this way, Like they say: "the ignorance of the law is no excuse."
If I'm punished for my ignorance of the law
Obviously, ignorance is no excuse. Then, you’d agree that I was expected to have known better
Which means I'm expected to up hold the law in all esteem, by every necessary means.
So, I ought to have studied what the law says, instead, I deliberately ignored, and I was punished for my ignorance because I ignored the books of the law to study them, couldn’t act accordingly therefore, because, I was ignorant, and that’s because, I ignored.

And since I wouldn't know what the law says, I broke the law ignorantly, and I was punished, and for that, the law was justified.

Let's look at it again: Ignorance, that is to say: ignore and acne= ignorance
Ance, denoting an action. If you asked me, I'd tell you ignorance is a deliberate act
Which has become so embedded within us, so that we live it as part of our lives, and ignore the truth.
Eaten so deep into the core of us so that we live in excuses of it, and therefore Ignore the necessaries
And when challenges arises suddenly, finding no knowledge to lift a standard against it, to confront it, then, we say: I was ignorant, Instead of saying I was ignoring, or I ignored.
Someone once said: An example of ignorance, Is someone showing up to a fancy cocktail party In a casual outfit. That's how to describe ignorance. He could have asked or even Google it, “What to wear to a cocktail party.” Instead he ignored and went ahead. The rest of the story is self explanatory Just like "- would say.” A lot of us Are ignorant because We've been ignoring our environment and the things that crave our attention. We even ignore the books especially, and this renders us uneducated in so many areas, thereby crippling our minds.

Not withstanding the school you attended Or the qualifications you've got, or your laurels, ignorance is the cultivator of mediocrity. Or Was it not Will Durant who said: Education is a progressive discovery of our own ignorance.

Minister Louis Farrakhan once said: “It is not bad not to know a thing, But it is bad not to find out what you don't know, After you know that you don't know.”

Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance. -Confucius
THIS IS WHY I HATE THE GUY-IGNORANCE, MR. IGNORANCE, I HATE YOU!!!

I refuse to be an ignorant man in this world. What do you say for yourself?

SLAY QUEEN EVENTUALLY

Life, like an old man, in his wheel chair, pot of cigar hangs in the corner of his mouth, cap tipped over as he observes... Sighs.
She's the slay Queen, as she says, so she is. Slay mama, slays... The killer.

She befriended Chris, who lost the job that took the fool twelve years to find, she laid with Akin, who she instigated, spent his inheritance on alcohol, clubs, parties, and hotels, he eventually turned a street boy with the junkies doing crack, you took Alhaji Mustapha away from his two wives and nine kids, and the slowpoke eventually smashed himself against a low bed at Majidun bridge in a haste to catch up with your nagging. Juliet, she’s twenty four, first daughter of a widow, final year student of business administration, now on Toyin street trading “self” for few thousands and a couple of pinches of “Whites,” she only met you twenty four weeks ago.

Slay Queen, skin as ripe as plantain's, lashes heavy as lid, nails as long as pencil, tummy folds all over, full of fat from junk. You remind me of rotten water watermelon, slay Queen.

Eventually, you'd slay yourself too, and we shall say; ashes to ashes, dust to dust, slay to slay, and Queen is dead, and the earth shall rest. Yes, rest.

Writing is like painting, at some point you get so high, so elevated that you'd begin to think you're literally in the 4th dimension... And it's like the tap of that dimension is opened into your head. You can scribble as much as you could, but endeavor to brood over (it's at this point that you must write with style) the birthed baby so he doesn't turn out to be a bastard, yet a beautiful child.

*LIFE*

Life is full
Of times that are hard,
Hard as rock…
Prickling thorns.
Burns, and bruises,
Scratches, and the scrapes,
Tears… cuts, and stabs
Leaving you with scars.

Life is full of memories:
Mixed…
Pleasants, and the unpleas,”
Leaving your mouth feel like
Herbs and the sweets,
Lollipop and Citrus Peels,
Like a two way street.

Life is like a rodeo,
You won't be needing a radio
On a unprotected bronc riding,
It’s a "rough stock" ‘vents,
From team roping,
Tie to the down roping,
Multiple bull riding,
To the steer wrestling.

Life is like a bitch,
She pisses
In your face when drunk
And do you over.

Life is like a diamond,
It deals you according to your faith!
Such is LIFE.

Certifications

They say school expand our horizon…
Malcolm X must have been deaf,
For he dropped out,
And got caged for burglary
At twenty.
And world renowned for
What he learnt in prison.

Sixteen years of my life
Was taken by the institutions: “Schools.”
I’m looking for job,
And I’m renowned for job hunts.
“X” spent seven years in prison,
Made a hero, icon, and history
So that we can’t forget him.

Father already abandoned me,
Believes he wasted money
Sending me to schools...
Mother, paranoid
Thinks the witch
From fathers household got me.

Dr. Patrick the therapist
Believes it's the weed,
The gin, and the opium
Addiction
That's done me.

But Pastor says,
It’s deliverance that I need,
Yes, I agree,
“That deliverance
From the craze of Certifications
That forbids, mar,
And eventually kills our creativity.”
But one thing I know,
Education isn't a function of certification.

DICTION

I’ve been writing since, only GOD knows when-genesis. I’ve got the dictions I can't control, I hear I'm out of control.
My apologies: this ain't pride, rather, it's gifting, it's the passion that I fashion, though, here they term it creativity.
Creativity, ability for to create, so I create me like some walking dictionary, and I make it missionary, now you see my diction is no ordinary. I’m stable, bearing letters like I’m scrabble, believe me, GOD’s able, so it is, He’s able.
A legend once told me, “It will take more than a grenade to put me down,” Now you see, I can’t go down!
The pain is, my shadow is jealous of me, he plans to murder me, the other day he was dining with Lucifer, Alpha, you promised they won’t go far, now he’s getting fat, plus he farts.
I’ve been to the cop station, cop turned me down, they said I got a demon, too much pot, or cracks done me, but Babe says, “it’s the dictions I can’t control.“
I’m like Ali in his prime, like Tyson in his time, like “Holy The Field” breaking new grounds, I’ve always had new rounds.
It’s always been these dictions.

*She wore dimples like she had them up for sale, and I love to put my finger in them like i have bought them out of sale...*

*The cycle of life*- your poetically, Phoenix Lovelace d poet.

During my childhood days,
There was a tutor of ours
With a pointed nose
And he had an oval face
like the moon,
He was tall and sinewy
like a twig of a tree ;
And whenever he smiled
His cheeks warped like a crescent moon.
He was a gentle soul;
Mellowed like a fleece,
And was easily swayed like leaves
of trees
In the wind.

One day, during class,
He drew a sketch on the board
Of which he called:
"Cycle of life ".
It was a sketch
of a tender plant
sprouting in the soil,
And there was an arrow
pointing
from the tender plant
towards a tree (plant has grown to a tree) ,
A tree
bearing fruits and twigs.

Then, there was
another arrow
pointing from the tree
towards a portrait
of a man feeding on its fruits.
There was also an arrow
pointing
from the man feeding on tree's fruits
to another portrait
of the same man lying still
Six feet beneath, decaying;
There was another arrow
pointing backwards
from the corpse towards to the tender plant
sprouting in the soil.

He ended by saying:
'Man feed on plant,
Plant feed on man' ,
Cycle of life.

Another day, he strode to the class,
Looking pale and gloomy,
He asked:
If we did recall
the lessons of 'Cycle of life',
We said, yes!
He then said:
It's a ruse!
It's bullshit, he bellowed like thunders in a stormy day.

He said:
Christ was sold with a kiss
for bucks,
Man ripped man's chest to pieces,
Sold his heart and kidneys for same bulks;
Black killed White,
Whiteman turned Blackman to slave ,
Atheist brawl theist;
Man strangled man like
a sodden towel
wrung in the sink.

He ended by saying:
Man feeds on man,
That's the Cycle of life.

The next day, he came,
Now a shadow of himself,
He taught us of a plant called
'a lichen ',
Two discrete organisms ;
A fungus and an algae
living as sole unit.
He said:
If we human could be like this lichen,
Both
Black and White,
Atheist and theist,
Of any race and tribe,
The world would have been a paradise.

After a month or two,
We heard that our tutor ,
The one with the pointed nose ;
Took a noose ,
Tethered it on his neck
And dangled.

MAN IS A SEED

The greatest Leader who ever walked this path once said:
"Except a seed dies, it lives alone." -John 12:24-25.

So, I make me like that seed,
And I die to self,
I die to me,
To self so I could live for humanity.

Though, I hear, and see daily
That humanity deserves it not,
It's also factual that I deserve not mine either,
And that makes the duo of us,
Deuces!!!

I'm buried beneath the soil of the heavens
For humanity's sake:
First, my roots,
I sprout,
"Jesus, the Sun of righteouseness"
Is my Sunlight,
And His Words my waters.

As I grow, I visualize you
My fruits... You are the fruits
I bear.
Earth would be a barren place
If I die not to self
For your sake.

Go and do the same,
For MAN IS A SEED: "Except a seed dies, it lives alone." -John 12:24-25.

*Kiss Of Death*

Since Judas kissed Christ, most kisses has always been followed by either a bullet,
Or a stab to the heart. Suli, has always been my best hommie until the ricochets from his gluck made a hole, the size of a baby's fist, in my chin, and claimed both my left upper and lower pre-molars, and molars, and also got the gum in that area numb. How my mouth remain is a miracle, inexplainable, yet undeniable.
Me and Suli, were as close as blood and water, like flesh and the bone, as a woman and her suckling child... But the success in the coke business, brought out the true him, Suli's kiss was followed by a bullet. Betrayal ain't no trial, it's killing, that son of belial.

You take the truth,
The Irrefuteable fact,
That's so glaring like it's a mirror,
You twist it,
And
Twist it,
Like,
It's a piece of cord.

You twist it until you change it,
You grind it, and lie it,
Like it's some Picasso workings...
You refine it by
Your con.

And in the end...
They say, "THE POLICE IS YOUR FRIEND."
This con bastards
With no regards
Nor respect for the irrefuteable

SAD (Dedicated To The Corrupt Political Blind Leaders In Nigeria).

When I said I was done,
The decision was born,
And grief was borne.
Green pastures I seek away...
And vacuum
I leave a’home.
One seventy million,
A people led astray,
Led like a mule
Without a guide.

In the land of the blind
When a blind lead the blind,
Then, a ditch is found a bond.
A bond with company.
One seventy,
All in bond with ditch,
Ditch in bond as same.
Blinds breed in ditch,
Ditch stretches,
Large it come to be.
And great darkness covers the land.

Hear me! Hearken!
O ye leaders of the blinds...
Eyes, ye have none,
Ditch, ye see not,
Leaders and followers alike.
Cursed, ye are to the land,
Until the graves have the best of ye,
This path you walked
Without part,
No part in the path,
But waste ye lay,
In it, ye’d be remembered no more
As the graves have the best of ye...
You’ve broken the honey hive,
And the sting is vast and great:
See your children,
In the diasporas, stung,
And
Scattered they’re
As the chaff carried
In the wind,
Waste they lay
Even away,
Waste they lay

...SAD!!!

*GOLD DIGGER*

Her name doesn't matter anymore...
For she's faded with her lost glory.
She won't matter.
So, her name is...
Never mind.

I watched
As we grew in her pranks
In her gimmicks,
As she's been
A termite in my pouch
Lice in my bosom,
Snake in my field.

The scent of deceit,
Strong, thick,
And dark as black.
The Brutus of my Caesar.

Though, I played dead,
Like I was dead,
She spat on my face,
Picked her butt,
And slapped like that,
Like,
"Catch me if you can."

Her name doesn't matter anymore...

YEAST

It’s at that juncture of suicide: the world a global village, yes, it is. But, this part of the world seem to be the forest reserve that only the authority has the power to hunt, and the civic are the bush meats.
More pharmacies, and cemeteries than the confectioneries, more are the jobs for the undertakers than the money bankers can bank, yet, Pastor Sam, says, “count your blessings, and name them one by one,” but the Nigerian witches are all here one on one.
Graduated since before Moses wrote genesis, to find out jobs have been bought buy money bags to dash to their love ones at will.
I tried my talent on writing to survive, contractors be like: “write me ten books for two dollars,” like we trading fruits, clothes or some shoes. It’s sore my gift is worth two dollars to a glutton. Then, I wish I could trade places with the likes of Adenuga, Dangote, Otedola, and Bill Gate, but here I am banging on hell’s gates.
After much ado about all and nothing, then, I realized, I need a catalyst, “like yeast, I must rise.”
