Those shoes in the picture are definitely not NYSC sneakers. NYSC sneakers are always ugly and unstylish. I remember some guys recycled them into dress shoes but one could always tell from looking that they were the same old, ugly, unfashionable NYSC sneakers.

The state issued boots were beautiful though. I wonder why people throw them away after service. Although their khaki bodies were not durable the soles had a very firm grip on surfaces. I remember standing on rocks in near impossible angles, something I can't dare using other brand name boots.

I disposed of mine quick because although the inside of my boots had factory defected rubber caps which pricked my toes with every step, everyone I knew laughed when they saw me matching NYSC boots with stylish street wear.
