Rainy season in most parts of Africa gets serious from sometime in May or June to sometime in August. Within that period, below are some excuses most bosses don't like listening to from their staff:

1. Calling your boss to tell him you can't come to office because it's raining heavily. You may get fired for this. Some companies work and make money most when it rains, e.g. hospitals, broadcast and online media, e.t.c.

2. Telling your boss you came late because of rain. If it rains everyday for thirty days and you come late those days, it may be be calculated as insubordination.

3. Telling your boss you can't work much because you feel cold. If you are sick, that is a different case. Cold or not cold, you are required to discharge your duties. Go to office with a jacket or what have you.

4. Telling your boss you too want to apply for annual leave because it's rainy period when someone else in your department is on leave because everybody knows it's not your turn in your department's leave roster/calendar.

Whatever the magnitude of the rain, especially the so called seven-day rain, ensure you get to your duty post timely because you don't know who's watching and assessing you based on the rain.
