The Emerging s3x disease called Mycoplasma genitalium(MG) is a pathogenic bacteria, that is sexually transmitted. It was isolated in 1981 and a risk factor for HIV transmission. Causes urethritis in both men and women, and also cervicitis in women leaving them infertile.

Defination

Is a sexually transmitted infection caused by pathogenic bacteria found in urinary and genital tract in humans. MG is highly resistant and prevalent.

MG causes bleeding, fever, preterm birth, spontaneous abortion, inflammation in women and alot of pain during urination due to inflammation of urethra in men, Causing high morbidty.

Signs and symptoms

Mycoplasma genitalium  have similar symptoms with Chlamydia trachomatis cause mild to severe symptoms.

Painful urination or watery discharge in men
For women.

Discharge from your vagina
Pain during sex
Bleeding after sex
Bleeding between periods
Complications

There are alot of comlications that result from MG:-

Urethritis
pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
cervicitis

MG is a fastidous organism and difficult to isolate.it can be diagnose using :-

Treatment

Treatment of Mycoplasma genitalium infections is becoming increasingly difficult due to rapidly growing
antimicrobial resistance.

CDC recommended regimen with azithromycin and another specific recommended regimen with doxycycline for the treatment of MG
