A lot of people believe searching for the right job begins and ends with sending half-baked CVs and cover letters to a thousand emails and wait for a call that will never come. They often forget that the employment is much smaller than it was many years ago.

The ratio of jobs to qualified candidates is about 2:50 (if there is any mathematical equation like that). But, that should paint a picture of just how bleak the whole system is.

However, this is not to say there are no jobs, there are, but one must work extra hard to get them. Job experts will tell you that a large percentage of jobs are filled based on referrals, not necessarily applications.
