FAW: very few farmers knows the details of the masked destroyer, those who should take their time to unmask him so we could know his identity are really not interested in his bio data. They just want to get rid of him.
It can travel as far as 100km in 24hrs,.

Fall Armyworm (FAW), or Spodoptera frugiperda , is an insect that is native to tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas. In its larva stage, it can cause significant damage to crops, if not well managed. It prefers maize, but can feed on more than 80 additional species of plants, including rice, sorghum, millet, sugarcane, vegetable crops, cassava, cotton, etc FAW was first detected in Central and Western Africa in early 2016 and has quickly spread across virtually all of Sub-Saharan Africa. Because of trade and the moth’s strong flying ability, it has the potential to spread further. Farmers will need great support through Integrated Pest Management to sustainably manage FAW in their cropping systems.

Fall armyworm can be one of the more difficult insect pests to control in field corn. Late planted fields and later maturing hybrids are more likely to become infested. Fall armyworm causes serious leaf feeding damage as well as direct injury to the ear. While fall armyworms can damage corn plants in nearly all stages of development, it will concentrate on later plantings that have not yet silked. Like European corn borer, fall armyworm can only be effectively controlled while the larvae are small. Early detection and proper timing of an insecticide application are critical.

They undergo complete metamorphosis, the adult looks like a moth.
The egg and larva stage are very destructive while the adults deposit the eggs and leave for another host.
