This is quite alarming. A philanthropist has revealed his heartbreak after a woman whom he has been trying to raise funds for to treat her sick daughter, allegedly decided to deny her child medical treatment. According to Nuhu Kwajafa, the woman took her sick daughter away from a hospital in Abuja despite pleas from the nurses and others after N201,000 has been raised for her daufgter's treatment.

It was claimed that the woman wants to be paid the money before she can give her daughter access to treatment, a suggestion which sounds shady.

Read below what the philanthropist shared via Facebook;

Yesterday evening, Aisha’s mother irrationally decided to take her daughter(Aisha) out of the Gwagwalada specialist hospital, denying her treatment. The nurses pleaded endlessly with her but she declined. After numerous phone calls, the mother finally answered our call (an hour ago). She said something to me that really broke my heart. Aisha’s mother wants to be paid, before allowing her daughter access treatment.

This situation where a parent denies a child access to healthcare, a basic right, is criminal and must be condemned. It is the same thing as denying an eligible person the right to vote or be voted for. These types of atrocities must not be allowed to thrive, especially against children, the future of our country.

With heavy hearts, we wish to inform the general public that we are not accepting anymore donations for Aisha. In total 210k has been raised, between yesterday and today. If it’s okay, may we channel the funds to another sick child? God bless you all.

And the hospital cannot order their security to bundle the useless thing out and take the innocent girl from her?
They can't cos the child is still a minor. They need consent to do anything on her. The only option is if there is a law enforcement agency tongue an order

Then they should arrange for that because the callous woman will want the innocent kid to be in pain for her own selfish gain.

Am I to believe there's no law protecting that child that can be enforced? No child services or something?
So, the mother can get away with this?

The soul in that baby's body is a strong soul...

What kind of heartless woman does this to her child? But we shouldn't rush into conclusion yet until we hear from the mother, this story doesn't just make sense to me

How is one sure she is the biological mother. Social welfare should go pick up the girl and take her back to the hospital while the police pick up the woman.

May be she's looking at how much she will get begging on the street with the girl.
Honestly, some people want to remain in their pit knowing that they can get something from sympathizers.

Poverty of the mind.

What stopped the hospital from calling the police?
For the sake of the child, they should never have allowed her carry the baby without Doctor's discharging her. That woman may be involved in witchcraft
There is nothing any body can do if she insist on taking her baby away.

having a feeling that she's used the situation of her child to raise cash through begging. So she's kinda reluctant to let the child get treated because money will stop coming in after the treatment. This is quite sad.

Op, I feel your pain. i work with an NGO in the North east. i have done allot of child protection especially health. This situation u have decribe is very common where i work. Most time is the husband that is influencing the wife. I stand to be corrected tho but most cases i have handled.

The was a case of malnourish child that the mother followed us to the hospital and we started treatment for the child only for the mother to stop showing up to collect milk and drugs for her child. We did follow up only to find the mother with scars. Apparently the husband beat her up for taking the malnourish child to the hospital. Consent is very important in my line of work.

The advice i will give u since your intentions are good and is for the greater good for the baby, even though the parents dont see it. You have to involve the Muslim council or they imam of a respected mosque in their area.

Please dont give up on this child yet.

She has turned it to avenue of making money, she believe that if the little girl was treated and okay no more free money. Those that started the donations should not let the useless mother be an obstacle to the little girl treatment

Most likely scenerio.

Is that what the Nigeria constitution says or what? She's risking jail sentence if someone decides to take her up. You've never heard about Negligence. Even if she wants to claim financial problem to defend her action, money had been raised already.

If this is true she should be arrested.
Get childcare/protection agencies involved so she's arrested and take the child for treatment. She is not fit to be called a mother if this is indeed true.

This is so heartbreaking!!!

The mother is probably mad.

The philanthropist should please report to the appropriate authority and also send the mother to Psychiatric.

She did not neglect her child. She took her child away from the hospital. She can claim she not OK with the way her daughter is being treated.
