An image released by the pro-ISIS Wafa Media Foundation via an Indonesian cell shows the terrorist cell in khakis squaring up against the Russian squad with warnings of “big match”, “IS vs Russia” and “life or death”.

And a poster depicting Argentina’s Lionel Messi apparently having been beheaded was also circulated.
Underneath the figure were the words 'Wait for Us'.

The image has been shared via pro-ISIS channels using an encrypted messaging application called Telegram.

It featured an excerpt from the Quran manipulated to urge jihadis to carry out in the US and Russia.

ISIS groups have shared the image on social media, along with another one of Messi and Brazilian striker Neymar.

The latter was on his knees and the former shown as having been brutally murdered.

Once again, it was created and distributed by the Wafa Media Foundation.

It was distributed after Argentinian football representatives meet with the country’s Russian ambassador to voice their concerns following another ISIS image of Messi crying blood.

Russian security services were on high alert for an ISIS-inspired attack on the tournament.

In April 2018, Moscow revealed it had killed 11 Jihadists as they try to stamp out extremism ahead of the month-long showpiece.

Counter-terrorism forces engaged extremists in the volatile Islamic region of Dagestan over several days.

Now that the tournament has come to an end without any known and reported incidents, can we say boldly that Putin's Russia successfully nipped ISIS in the bud?

That's is to tell you that the power of these Islamic sects is their propaganda.. They just spread false messages to instigate sympathizers to launch attacks on their behalf.
That's why fake news is detrimental

Thank God for the proactive nature of the Russian Security forces. This is what we lack as a nation.
