According to inside reports, Liverpool have agreed a world record fee with Roma for the transfer of goalkeeper, Alisson Becker to the Reds

A deal between Liverpool and Roma for Brazil international has seen Liverpool given the permission to hold talks with the shot-stopper.

Liverpool's first bid of £62m, which included £53m up front with a further £9m in add-ons, was rejected by the Serie A outfit on Tuesday but the club upped their bid to 75m Euros (£66.8m)

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has long been an admirer of the 25-year-old and has instructed the Anfield board to sanction a move as he seeks an upgrade in his number one department.

The coach is said to have lost confidence in Loris Karius following his numerous errors last season, particularly in the champions league final.

Karius was given the opportunity to be Liverpool's number 1 after he displaced the equally suspect Simon Mignolet between the sticks halfway through last season.

Liverpool finished a distant fourth in the Premier League last season, fully 25 points behind Manchester City despite outscoring every side other than Pep Guardiola's.
