Jos — The Plateau State government yesterday raised an alarm that it had uncovered fresh plans by some people to unleash fresh violence in the state. The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Gregory Yenlong, alleged in a statement that the planners of the violence had concluded plans to import mercenaries into the state in the planned action. It accused those behind the alleged plan as being out to frustrate the efforts of government to make peace reign in the state, adding: “Plateau cannot be a ground for lawlessness and impunity. No individual or group should be allowed to hold citizens to ransom or become a law unto themselves. Any plan to attack the state under any guise would be resisted by the law enforcement agents.” The statement said the security agencies had been alerted on the plot to enable them nip it in the bud and advised citizens to be alert and report any suspicious movements to security agencies as they go about their lawful businesses. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/06/14/plateau-alleges-plot-to-unleash-fresh-violence/ |

Jos crises have become a recurring decimal. May be some group are really out to turn Jos upside down. Even the govt policy banning the use of OKADA was met with stiff resistance from some quarters leading to the death of a policeman and injuries to some other policemen. A few innocent civilians lost their lives during the fracas too. The way things are, some powerfull individuals seem to be fuelling this ember of hatred while the poor and wretched ones are used to accomplish the intention. Plateau State must stamp its authority by dealing ruthlessly with the perpetrators to prevent further lawlessness. |
