Seriously. So INEC is just knowing politicians buy votes? Wow. shocked how come I'm really surprise by this bit of news?

They've known since the Edo elections, and pretend they'll do something about it. But when the next major election comes around which a 'certain party' must win by hook or crook, it always happens again! smiley

The question is: What can the Commission do about it? This one the Commission is already saying that the politicians are clever than the Commission sev means that APC bought more votes (if we are to assume that all the parties bought too). APC of course should have more money (Abacha's recovered loot etc).

Wahala de dis country. Buhari is sooo rigging himself back in in 2019 ehhhnnn...

Only if the masses are enlightened enough to know that collecting money from these rogues is equivalent to selling your unborn generations for 4000 naira to these people's unborn generations then they would have acted wisely. 4000 naira that cant put 30litres of petrol in a car.

At what market did they buy the vote and how much per one vote?

APC bought at 5k per vote, but in some areas, 10k per vote. security officals aid them in doing so.

Vote buying is not new in Nigeria. It is part of our society It does not mar or affect Ekiti election. It is a civil matter not criminal in nature. Thereforeit is not admissible at the election petition tribunal. Granted both parties wooed some voters with money before and during the election according to their financial power. However. Ekiti people still voted according to their preferences and consciences. They showed their wisdom and intelligence by collecting our money from both parties and spending it as they liked on the weekend.

My brother, am surprised. This same vote buying too place in Edo state and Ondo elections. I saw it clear with my two eyes in Edo election. Am very very surprised to hear INEC saying they don't know anything about buying of votes.

The same thing happened in Edo election, am surprised for INEC saying that they don't know anything about vote buying. I saw it in Edo state election with my two eyes. Somebody will vote and instead to cover his/her vote they turn the ballot paper outside down for the agent to see what party they voted. Another person will standby to direct them to where they will collect money.

Vote buying has bn part of our Electoral System in Nigeria since 1999...so people pretending that they didn't buy votes are just plain stupid...Has anyone seen APC come out to say that they didn't induce voters with cash in Ekiti? No...But the most corrupt political party in the history of the world, PDP, are claiming innocent of an electoral sin that it introduced into our polity, something a 6 year old is apprised of in Nigeria...I just have never experienced it bn done with such impunity.

The thing is that, both parties did it, but Fayose should look inwards as to why he lost Ekiti...he shot himself in the foot; imposition and calling the bluff of the aggrieved in PDP, plus d non-payment workers salary for close to a year are d main reason he lost Ekiti...No matter d rigging, it is difficult for a political to rig successfully where it's not popular...Despite huge cash inducement and military presence, APC still lost in Anambra.

The thing is that this cash inducement thing won't fly in court (not in a Nigerian court anyways) as the two main contenders are guilty of same crime...so the loser should just forget it and move on...while a lesson should be learnt from it and measures put in place to reduce in subsequent elections (because there is no way u can get rid of it, it's in our DNA).

Just a parting shot to Aregbesola, he had better take care of whatever he owes the Osun State workers, as d same treatment might be waiting patiently for him at d next bend...when u make your civil service suffer, it has ripple effects on the entire masses one way or the other....and it eventually comes back to bite u when u need them.

INEC is more clever by adding one one figure in front of apc scores thereby increasing apc votes. Am convince that the election will never fly. Allowing it to go through will completely kill democracy. Very very advanced rigging style. A high number civil societies, election obsevers and others hav already testified in TVC.. Pdp have enough evidence

You can’t blame the poor for collecting N4000. They’re hungry mostly due to poor leadership. It’s up to law enforcement to stop them. If INEC knows politicians bought votes, what did they do to punish them? Isn’t that grounds for cancellation/annulment?
Re: Ekiti 2018: Politicians Bought Votes, More Clever Than Commission - INEC Admits by bigerboy200: 5:59pm On Jul 18, 2018
theoldpretender:
The problem with Nigerian democracy is the people.

Not INEC, not the government, the people.

This Ekiti election was marred by open vote buying...and the painful thing is people willingly and freely partook. No one stopped them, they were not forced under duress to take APC or PDP's money...they willingly took it.

If Nigerians cannot wake up to the fact that vote buying is wrong...then maybe we should dump democractic rule...and go back to autocracy till we know better.
selling their votes wasn't a moral choice for them, it was a choice of survival.

Re: Ekiti 2018: Politicians Bought Votes, More Clever Than Commission - INEC Admits by Ndonu101: 6:13pm On Jul 18, 2018
I hope this can usher in a new beginning in which INEC will start providing a feedback/report on election that represents reality

No one expects INEC to be responsible for the behaviour of politicians, but INEC must report events as they are. Any attempt by INEC to report some electoral eutopia that don't exist simply makes INEC complicit in the rigging system

I think we need to even get to a point where it becomes a criminal offence for INEC representatives at polling units not to report electoral malpractices as they see them and it should be punishable under law if proven in court

In the same vein the wages of INEC permanent staff should be reviewed and ensured its a living wage!

Vote buying became popular when this government came to power. Edo to Ondo and now Ekiti. Later they will say they are fighting corruption.

Only fools will believe this deception by Buhari's INEC

The real rigging happened during collation when PDP agents were locked out. Even with the vote buying, APC lost...... INEC is only being smart in half by blaming vote buying.

some of you have just resolve to be unreasonable ,, we all know pdp & fayose + followers to be social media freaks
why cannt the pdp agent locked out make a video record and post online.... you sounded like you were also there why didnt you record the unlawful act
