The Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC) on Tuesday said the ruling party massively moved taxpayers’ money to Ekiti State in the just concluded governorship election there.

The breakaway faction of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) also said while it had been silent, it was working underground with people of like minds to ensure that President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC were kicked out in 2019.

Speaking in an exclusive chat with Daily Independent, Prince Kassim Afegbua, its National Publicity Secretary, also accused APC leaders of hypocrisy, saying while they called R-APC members all sorts of derogatory names during the day, they hid under the cover of darkness to beg them not to leave the party.

Afegbua, who condemned the desperation of the party to win Ekiti State at all cost, said even local and international observers had said openly that the APC deployed huge resources from Abuja to ensure it emerged victorious in the election.

On why it had been silent in recent times, Afegbua said the faction didn’t have to make noise in the media to prove its point.

He said: “Politics is not about noisemaking. We are strategising and, also, don’t forget that we have gone to court and we are still holding our meetings, and we are trying to see how best to approach our objectives.

“But anyone should not think that we are going to be dancing on the streets because we want people to hear or see us. We have gone beyond that.

“We are going to strategically shock those who think that we are nobody and that is just the beginning of the defeat of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

“During the day, they will call us names but at night, they will be hopping from door to door, pleading with our members not to leave.

“They know they have serious issues, they know they are messing up big time.

“They also know that the acceptance ratio of the president and APC has dropped, and that was why they deployed so much resources in the Ekiti election to make a statement.

“But it is so glaring to everybody, both local and international observers, that it was cash for vote.

“A party that prides itself as a fighter against corruption, a party that preaches anti-corruption, a party that preaches transparency in government, a party that is populated by ‘progressives’, so to speak, ended up ridiculing their own credentials at Ekiti election.”

“So much desperation, so much usage of the resources of the people, tax payers’ money, just to make a statement that they are still in contention.

“But in 2019, they will be shocked when Nigerians will reject them. That time, they won’t have 30,000 police to give to every state.

“They won’t have 1,000 soldiers to distribute to each state. Nigerians will be left with their consciences to vote out this incompetent government that has compounded our problems, divided us more than ever before.”

Seeing how the outcome of the election is still peppering these homeless politicians shows many of them might have invested a lot of capital in it based on Fayose boisterous promises.
