Germany Skipper Mesut Özil issues retirement statement following their early dismissal from Group stage in Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup. The 29 year-old Arsenal midfielder seized to the fact that his picture with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was heavily criticised and citing it racist and disrespectful act from the country he wholeheartedly serve since 2006. Following his retirement, the Gunner's Skipper have played 92 matches so far for the National team, scoring 23 times with 40 assist and winning the German player of the year five times.
