22 And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”

Dear OP.
If you tell your child not to eat a particular food or they will die and someone else comes the tell them "you will certainly not die!"What does that person make you to to be?

By making that statement (you will certainly not die), the devil was directly calling God a liar. That God was lying when he said they'll die if they eat from that tree.
