Saudi Aramco Plans To Slow Down Electric Car Progress By Making Efficient Engine by Automotive1(m): 2:35am On Jul 27, 2018

World’s largest oil company, Saudi Aramco of Saudi Arabia is fighting hard to protect its market share and slow a potential mass movements to electric vehicles.

Saudi Aramco and other major oil companies around the world ( can't say if Nigeria's Oil Companies are among ) aren't ready to surrender the automotive market to companies like Tesla and BYD because they pose potential threat to their business.

They keep fighting hard to protect their market share and slow a potential mass movements to electric vehicles.

But how is the World's highest earning oil company with an annual revenue of $478 billion USD (N165 trillion Naira) in 2017 fighting the likes of Tesla and BYD?

Saudi Aramco currently has 30 engineers working in Detroit U.S on a project to build better internal combustion engines that burns less oil.

The head of Saudi Aramco’s Detroit Research Center said:
"We are trying to get technology into production, and we want to be very fast.”

If they succeed (and I know there are other companies with similar research centres) in making internal combustion engines that are more efficient, then i think they can slow the loss of market share.

BP is already trying to embrace the idea and limit their losses by paying N61.6b ( £130m) to buy UK’s biggest electric car charging network, Chargemaster . Chargemaster currently has more than 6,500 charging points across the country. BP plans to deploy fast chargers at it’s 1,200 forecourts over the next year.

BP estimates that electric vehicles will reach about 12m in UK by 2040 with some analysts putting the figure much higher.

Nigeria is one of the largest oil producers in the world (total revenue from crude oil rose by 29% to N7.3 trillion in 2017) and the largest in Africa, although Libya has the largest reserves in the continent .

Don't you think the Federal Government and Oil companies are stylishly trying to slow down electric vehicles progress in the country?

Saudi Aramco, one of many companies in a country of less than 30 million people earned N168 trillion.

The whole Naija earned less than N8 trillion from oil officially.

Yet we are busy shouting oil country upandan abandoning other resources.

Very unserious country we are.

Shell is buying into Solar and electric car technology. There is no stupid country in this world. Eventually Elin Musk will be the richest man in the world but that is when today's oil companies would have bought large stocks in his companies

I just pity Nigerian workers connected to oil companies. When other countries look for ways to fight electric cars or at least give benefits to workers who are retrenched because of electric cars proliferation, Nigeria workers will just loose jobs just like that without any benefits or compensation whatsoever.

The real plan will be to slow down so they can make money from oil and invest madly in the same electric cars. They know it's only a short time left for oil. I know many of our leaders might be thinking it's for Opec's advantage.

Even at that, the revenue from the oil sector is grossly underdeclared due to many leakages: massive corruption in NNPC, unbridled greed of govt officials and sabotage.

Good idea

But let it be known that electric cars n solar technology is a technology of the future.

Crude oil will still be the major source of power till the end of the century.

Man has not yet been able to stop using coal which is over 400 years, talk more of crude oil that is just about 100 years old.

America China India Germany Etc still depend on coal fired plants to generate most of the electricity that they use.

Electric motor is one good thing I have prayed for and by the grace of God it has come to stay. Even Naturalists and enviromentalists are against the use of fuel-powered cars.

I want nigerian crude oil to become useless so that the parasitic buffoons called northerners can leave the south alone.

As soon as e-vehicle manufacturers are able to perfect autonomous solar charging for e-vehicles, nobody will have to argue with anyone. Some of these vehicles already assure 350+miles on a full charge.
