Sarri’s Top Targets In Chelsea’s Slow Transfer Dealings by damickey(m): 11:55am On Jul 27, 2018

The summer transfer window has apparently been a slow one for Chelsea considering the arrival of a new manager who’ll be looking to implement a new style of play that totally varies from the typical Chelsea pattern, as well as the fact the club needs to improve on last term’s finish. Not to mention how rival clubs have been strengthening this summer.

The slow transfer moves appeared to be due to the club’s managerial uncertainty. However, Sarri has been unveiled, and the only notable signing with barely 10 days to the community shield game against Manchester City is Jorginho. A move that Chelsea would definitely have lost out on, if not for Sarri’s influence on the player.

No offense to the goalkeeping department, but the arrival of Rob Green is hardly one to be ecstatic about as he was brought in to improve the clubs homegrown quota in the Premier League, and will most likely not get a competitive game like his predecessor Eduardo.

However, there is cause for joy, as the club have also been linked with some decent players recently, with the belief that they’ve all been recommended by Sarri. It might do the Blues faithful some good to start imagining Pepe Reina between the sticks for Chelsea next season as the reports of a move for the veteran goalie appear to be gathering steam.

Daniele Rugani who is a center-back at Juventus is likely to don the Chelsea shirt next season. Reports suggested that the Blues had an initial offer of £35m rejected for the defender as he is valued at £45m. Sarri previously worked with the player while at Empoli and hopefully, Marina Granovskaia and her colleagues get this done as quickly as possible.

Another potential Chelsea signing is Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain. His age leaves more to be desired, but he has proven himself over time and if the manager needs him, the club should get him. It is believed that Chelsea initially baulked at his £53m price tag and now face competition from Milan who are also keen on acquiring the striker. Nevertheless, Chelsea should get this done.

Another target is Miralem Pjanic. Chelsea will face stiff competition for the Bosnian, and will also part with nothing less than £89m for the midfielder. A lot of Chelsea fans are obviously drooling over the possibility if this acquisition, but it’s definitely a tough one to call. Good Luck to Marina and co for this one.

Leon Bailey! The Jamaican forward who plays for Bayern Leverkusen in the Bundesliga is another target that will definitely boost Chelsea’s attacking line. There is also Anthony Martial, although Jose Mourinho has insisted that he would not be sold to a Premier League rival. Martial will definitely cost a fortune regardless of how he has appeared to regress recently under Mourinho. Leon Bailey could come cheaper.

A new name popped up recently. Brazilian attacker Bernard who is now a free agent is being linked with a move to Chelsea. He’s 25, and we wait to see if it is just mere speculation.
