Piggery or Poultry Investment With Just #50,000 Naira, Along With Its ROI & NPM by Ade3000yrs(m): 12:08am On Aug 02, 2018
Feeding cost has always been a subject of contention in the operating cost of a poultry project; for those into 1000 birds farm capacity or more and would love to cut feed cost by 60% to 70% with an innovative alternative formula call 08141208884

Instead of feeding 1,000 birds with #500,000 naira monthly, it is very much possible to expend #62,000 to #72,000 naira monthly for the same course which is just between 12% to 15% of the regular monthly feeding cost of #500,000 naira.

*Small scale Poultry (Turkey) Production in 4 weeks with a budget of #50,000 naira*

As an incurable optimist regardless of the economic terrain of Africa and Nigeria in particular; truly there is no fast money nor magic money anywhere as there is no business without risk. A lot of us might be tempted to call this a joke due to inexperience or series of bitter experience in poultry production in the past. Some might as well argue that #50,000 will never be enough for a weekend family shopping but believe me, your #50,000 naira can do alot.

For those of us who might have attempted or approached poultry the wrong way before along with those of us wondering what we can achieve with *#50,000 naira* worth of investment in livestock venture especially with poultry in focus. Here is a break down analysis.

*Note* Local Turkey at 4 weeks is between #2,000 to #2,500 and at 6 months is between #10,000 to #18,000 naira

For imported Turkey at 4 weeks is at #5,500 to #7,000 naira and at 6 months, it is between #16,000 to #25,000.

I suggest people go into more of turkey production than the conventional chicken business be it broiler or layers. You might have to mix the imported Turkey with local turkey so as to get quick buyer as Turkey appreciates better with time unlike Chicken.

The reason been that it takes roughly #6,500 to raise a chicken from day old to the 5th month be it layers or broilers only for it to be prized at between #1,500 naira to #4,500 naira at most which however is still often a loss and makes no economic sense in the long run. This is why is often advisable to dispose off your chicken between 4 weeks to the 3rd months. I share this with you from practical experience.

20 pcs of day old local turkey @#400 naira = #8,000 naira
19 pcs of day old Imported Turkey @1,700 = #33,000.
*Drugs and feed feeding Cost @ #7,400 + #1,600 for drugs. TOTAL = #9,000 naira*

*Recommended Feed & breakdown for 4 weeks of raising Turkey*

1 bag of hybrid Super starter 25kg at #3,700 naira
1 bag of Finisher 25kg at #3,700.

*Sales & Projected Return on investment in 4 weeks* = Profit /Investment cost x 100

19 imported Turkey sold @ #5,500 naira after 4 weeks = #104,500 naira.

20 local Turkey sold at #2,000 after 4 weeks = #40,000.
#104,500 + #40,000 = #144,500
Therefore ROI in 4 weeks = Net sales #144,500 - #50,000 (Invested Capital)
= N#94,500 naira. (ROI) or if in %, then 94500/50000 x 100 = 189%

Net Profit Margin = Profit / total Revenue x 100 = #94,500 / #144,500 naira x 100 = 65%.

Mind you; this is to exclude the cost of poultry pen set up cost but for those with existing pen but looking out for possible bail out from the pangs of the regular poultry or chicken venture.
