1 - Akintola and Awolowo had a disagreement over principles aggravated by their supporters, my grandfather was a major power broker and revered by both men, he honourably resigned after officially sacking Akintola.

2 - It is known fact OBJ never wanted to be president after Muritala was assassinated, he famously ran to the marina and was only convinced by TY Danjuma and co; the fact he gave democracy a chance was in-line with an agreement he had with Pres Carter. NPNs Shagari won the election even thou there were concerns about the census distribution, NPN was under the leadership of Pa Akinloye and has such political giants like Fani-Kayode, Adeyinka Adebayo, Mbadiwe and even formed an alliance with Ojukwu.

3 - It is a known fact that the coup that brought Buhari/ Idiagbon to power was orchestrated and delivered by IBB, Abacha et al, Buhari just happened to be an ideal face. Several military biographies of those active at the time have confirmed this, once IBB and Abacha saw he wasn't going to play ball he was disposed of.
