REASONS AKPABIO IS CROSSING OVER TO APC

According to an undisclosed source who spoke to Punch Newspapers, the former Governor, now Senator, Godswill Obot Akpabio, has been asked to deliver oil-rich Akwa Ibom state to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) or face the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“What is happening is that the APC has threatened to deal with him, using the EFCC and he doesn’t want that at all.

“We are all pleading with him not to leave the party (PDP), but he is afraid. He doesn’t want to be in EFCC’s net. He is really under pressure but we hope that he would listen to us,” the source said.

There are clear indications that Akpabio's planned defection is not in the interest of his people but a straw-clutching attempt by a drowning man to save himself.

Already, political associates of the Senator in Akwa Ibom and beyond have withdrawn their support from the Senator who is alone in the struggle to save his face and political career from eternal embarrassment.

The Senator is speculated to complete his move to APC at an elaborate solidarity rally to be held in Ikot Ekpene on Thursday, 9th August, 2018.

The event is however, largely expected to be filled with rented crowd from neighbouring states as core loyalists of the Senator have reportedly deserted him.

His constituents say they now are convinced that the power drunk Senator is controlled by his personal interests, greed and self aggrandizement.
