NAME AND CHARACTER


It was said of alexander the great that one
day, the guards brought before him an
amizingly handsome young man. Alexander
yelled from his seat, "what is his charge?"
The guard said "COWARDICE SIR! He ran from
battle, deserted his combats and fled from
his duty!" The very idea of running away
from battle infuriate the ruler but looking at
the young man, he asks, "soldier, what is
your name?" Trembling in the harsh grasp
of the guards he stammered "M-my n-name
is Alexander S-sir". Grabbing the boy by his
collar, alexander replied "soldier! Your either
change your character OR YOU CHANGE YOUR
NAME.
The story above is a clear reflection of some
trend in our modern day christianity.
The early believer where first called
"christians" at antioch because their lifestyle
radiate the likeness of christ and the glory of
God[Acts 11:26].
They are not called christians because of
outward show of religiousity or
sanctimonium, but because of clear
resemblence to christ.
Now take a reflection!
Do you claim to be a christian and still
indulge into vices like bribery, corruption,
deception, lying, fornication, forging and
other related issues? Then you are a
disgrace to the name of christ. Because a
true christian is not a sinner, and a sinner is
not a true christian.
You may appear to be morally ok, but what
you are in reality is what matters.
Your christianity should be seen in your
character and disposition rather than just
bearing the name that dosen't corresponds
with your character.
Every given day is a room for a change.
If your claims does not corresponds with
your character, you can make a decision
today and be true christian whose life
brings glory to God.
