Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger State has warned government organisations in the state against outright rejection of corps members posted to them.

He gave the warning during the closing ceremony of the 2018 Batch ‘B’ orientation course of corps members in Paiko Local Government Area of Niger State.

Alhaji Mamman Musa, the state Commissioner for Water Resources, represented the Governor at the occasion.

Bello enjoined employers of labour to accept corps members posted to their organisations and provide them with decent accommodation for their one-year national service.

“We will not accept outright rejection of corps members by employers or organisations, you should ensure you accommodate all corps members posted to you and provide them with conducive environment,” he said.

The Governor then urged the corps members to strive to make positive contributions in their host communities.

He also called on them to accept their postings, make positive impact in their places of primary assignment and leave behind projects that would add value to the people of the state.

Earlier, Mrs Theresa Arokoyo, NYSC Coordinator in Niger, said that the skill acquisition and leadership training which corps members were exposed to during their orientation course would enable them to be self-reliant after service.

She advised corps members to see their service year as a period of sacrifice and adhere to the advice given to them by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the forthcoming general elections.

“I urge you to be of the highest degree of diligence, discipline and avoid any situation that might compromise your integrity.

“You must remain politically unbiased electoral officers throughout the electoral process.

“The nation believes in the ability of the scheme to ensure a credible election like your predecessors did, please do not betray the confidence reposed on the scheme,” she said.

Do you want village schools, hospitals, etc to suddenly have no teachers, no doctors,nurses, pharmacists, etc....

Agitiate for an industrial society, so that jobs would be enough, and stop looking for money to share.

Then it means the education of a large percentage of Nigerian youths is not good enough. NYSC camps have become places for wanton and indiscriminate sex.

This nysc thing was supposed to have a valuable meaning but it don't. Chai.

What do the teacher ones do, teach. Who is teaching them, are they getting training from the top staffs and company or post. More than 90% of people doing nysc are not adding value especially technically, and it don't seem like nobody or organization is adding value to them. The only two sectors where they add value is in election and teaching. Even at that, they are not trained for it, so na experiments na im we dey use for the current students them dey teach or vote. I just know that we can do better and should begin doing reasonable things.

The money govt claims she spends on the program is enough to help the graduate start up well. They said govt spend close to 900k per corper. Unto wat end please?? Can't half of it help a graduate and save something for govt too....a win-win situation

Oga these are supposed graduate that hitherto should lead the campaign against the Virus but if they have choosen their stock in trade is to spread it so be it. I really don't see what the commission can do about that.

I laughed at your comment. Let them scrap NYSC scheme and see how some state govt schools will collapse, not only schools even clinics. The contribution of corps members to education and health in many states cannot be ruled out. Govt and organisations should improve the welfare of corps members.

Stop spewing trash. Niger State Government pays salaries between 22nd and 24th of every month. The governor doesn't owe salary.
