APC Asks: Where Did A 'Senate Presiding Officer' Get The Money To Acquire 22 Properties From?

"It is difficult to fathom how a federal lawmaker, who before his current position was an Associate Lecturer and Local Government Chairman, owns 22 high-end properties in Nigeria and other exclusive locations across the world," the statement read.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has tasked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to publish its findings on the properties of "a current Senate presiding officer facing EFCC investigations".

The party said it is difficult to fathom how "a federal lawmaker, who before his current position was an Associate Lecturer and Local Government Chairman, owns 22 high-end properties in Nigeria and other exclusive locations across the world".

Although the party did not expressly say so, the lawmaker is believed to be Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, who is being investigated and was detained on August 1 by the EFCC over his linkage to 22 properties.

In a statement by Yekini Nabena, the party’s Acting National Publicity Secretary, APC urged the EFCC and other related organisations to intensify efforts aimed at “investigating and recovering public funds and assets that have been stolen by public officials".

Commending President Muhammadu Buhari on his stance in the fight against corruption, the APC restated its commitment to ensuring that the country is run by individuals who have integrity.

The statement read: “The All Progressives Congress (APC) calls on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC); Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and other allied anti graft bodies to intensify efforts at investigating and recovering public funds and assets that have been stolen by public officials.

“Fighting corruption is one of the key election promises the Party made to Nigerians and we remain solidly committed and determined to achieve it.

“Our call to anti-graft agencies is imperative as we prepare for the 2019 general elections. We must check the use of stolen public funds to finance elections in this country. Again, it is important that the Nigerian electorate have the opportunity to choose from candidates that can pass the integrity and corruption test. We must ensure that we never again entrust the leadership of this great country to gang of thieves whose sole aim is treasury looting as brazenly displayed in past Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administrations.”

In the reference to Ekweremadu, the party said: “An example is a current Senate presiding officer facing EFCC investigations. It is difficult to fathom how a federal lawmaker, who before his current position was an Associate Lecturer and Local Government Chairman, owns 22 high-end properties in Nigeria and other exclusive locations across the world.

“It is our hope that the anti-graft agencies investigating this Senate Presiding officer makes public his and other corruption probe status reports so that Nigerians can know them for who they are.”

Ekweremadu was the pioneer Chairman of Aninri Local Government in Enugu State, a post he held between 1997 and 1998, and an Associate Lecturer at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law from the University of Abuja.

Some Idiots will still call it witch-hunt as always , it's a commonsensical question being asked here

When they want to display their stupidity , i mean the Flatheaded Idiots that are resident on Nairaland and other social media and their wailing brothers, they start naming other politicians that they hate , asking EFCC to prosecute those first before prosecuting someone else

Funny enough most of the ones they list were in Opposition 3 years ago , ask them why GEJ their lord didn't arrest the so called corrupt people , they have zero meaningful answers

If you start questioning them now, they wee start calling on Nigerians to help them protect Democracy..

Is Democracy not a curse on the black race?

The way Saraki and the PDP mentions Democracy at every given opportunity baffles me..

It shall not be well with whoever came up with the idea of Democracy for the blacks

It will be well with those who brought democracy to Nigeria , But it won't be well with those who are trying to truncate said democracy , those who use it as a means to siphon money for their personal use and those who infected Nigeria's democracy with corruption

May their race and generations be wiped off the face of the earth

When we talk about thieves in Nigeria, tinubu should top the list but we don't see him. Amechi should be there. Oshiomole should be there. But we don't see these people's name. These criminals are called saints but opposition are called thieves.

If Ekeremadu decamps to APC tomorrow, he would automatically become a saint. Can you see the hypocrisy of Zombies and APC? Mad cows!

How I wish DSP Ekweremmadu will just join APC just for one week, u ll see the type of reception they ll give him. Their foot soldiers on NL(BMCs) will call him the uncommon defector.

My stand is dis, if he must be investigated, Tinubu, Buaratai and Akpabio shud be probed too

This congregation of animals called APC are totally useless. Since charity begins at home, as the saying goes, why not start the question asking exercise from the foundations of the APC itself. Where did the unprecedentedly and matchlessly avaricious crook called Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alias Asiwaju, alias Jagaban, get the money to own over 1000 CHOICE properties in Lagos alone? Did he own these properties before he became governor in 1999? They say he was an 'akantant', or worst of all "treasurer" at Mobil before his foray into politics. We're all fools then, right? How much was his total compensation in that over-amplified, much vaunted middle management position?

Where did a jobless and unproductive buffoon like Rotimi Amaechi get billions and billions to own properties all over the world and to fund his multi billion Naira libertine lifestyle (flying bitches all over the world in private jets, spending top dollar on haute couture for bitches, etc)? This is a man who has never held a real job in his entire life. Straight from Uniport, he became a praise singer and ultimately a valet to former Rivers State governor Peter Odili, and served him until he was installed in the House of Assembly and immediately appointed Speaker by the same man (Odili). He remained there for eight years, and thereafter became Governor of the same Rivers in 2007, and the rest is history. So why is he a billionaire?

It is not commonsensical, in fact it is a nonsensical question so long as it is coming from the mouth of a party in government that returned 48 houses to Timipre sylva. They should start by explaining to us how Mr Sylva acquired those 48 houses. Till then, they are nothing but bloody hypocrites!!!

What about tinubu, ameachi, akpabio uduaghan, Ibori, okorocha, Tambuwal, Fayemi, and Fayose.

The anti corruption pattern of this admin is disturbing. They are always prioritizing key opposition forces who can mar their political ambition. The masses are secondary, politics is primary for APC.
