I am sure taxify will not do much. I had a bad experience with two of their drivers in Abuja as well. They promised to send me voucher codes that i am yet to receive till date despite sending several reminders. i have jejely moved to Uber. i do taxify when i have no choice or the fare difference between uber and taxify is huge. Uber treats the f-uck up of drivers with more decisiveness. Although same crop of drivers are on both platforms but they seem to behave better with uber.

Overall, the riders should monitor their trips and confirm from their own phones.

Uber doesn't give me notification o. I wish they would start doing that cos I have fallen for a lot of this scam.

The driver does not tell you your fare. You see it with the same phone you booked the ride with.

Still don't get the trick. The rider also gets notified about the amount to be paid directly by Taxify. You don't just pay what the driver shows you, you also check your trip details sent to you by Taxify.

you are right. but i engage a taxify driver in conversation and he confessed that some taxify drivers do this trick...

most times when you order for a ride you may not want to check from your end because you trust the system and you are willing to pay any amount the system charge.. like me, i didn't see the summery of my last trip from my end but i paid anyway.

The three times I payed an exorbitant price for a distance that I normally ply, i pay 3500-4000 for those trips even with hold up and ended up paying 6k, 7k respectively without hold up. I was sent an email of the receipt but im sure something was not right. I noticed they were always touching their phone. What are they doing? Are they manipulating the fare. They charged me so high for a distance that had no hold up. I really want to know the motive behind always pressing their phone through out the trip. I seriously believe they are manipulating something.

forget taxify abuja drivers. They are all criminals. I have reported 4 to taxify, let me just leave it at that.

I don't do cash...strictly on card both taxify n uber...so no matter where we go...I know my trip range before starting. So any I don't have any money issue to discuss with any driver.

I mostly get promo from uber that some distance is charged N0 as a result of the promo, so in that case, na the driver n uber get case to settle.

They can easily change your destination or add some stops end the trip when you drop.

let me tell u what one taxify guy did to me in abuja. After he started the trip from airport, he said he noticed it was card, but he wanted cash. I knew he was up to something, i opened the app on my fone and was watching the trip all the way. Trip of 1,500 to 2000. The guy yold me it was 3k he would collect, i say its what d trip reads i will pay and by card. The guy started fumbling with his fone. Next changed d destination to immigration near airport. I noticed and told him. Told him to stop at d immigration. He apologised and changed to my original destination. He ended trip, bill was N100. Just imagine. I told him it was d immigration he changed it to. He said taxify app isnt good, if it were uber, uber would have recalculated the correct bill. I gave him 2k cash because, i wount let him go with N100 for a 2k trip. I reported to taxify immediately thereafter.

Once you see them pressing their phone anyhow. Warn am to focus on his driving and leave his phone alone because you dont like nonsense

Taxify sends me receipts... So I use the receipt sent to me to pay them.

Most taxify drivers are corrupt, I had a similar experience in Lagos, dude picked us from ijesha to gbagada, the app didn't open on my done so I asked my brother in law to request taxify for me, when trip ended, the guy said 3k, I was shocked, called my in-law who requested it, he was not available, I had already made the mistake by telling my hubby that I could not access the app, the driver started shouting that I should pay him, I told him to show me his phone or wait till my in law picked, after much arguing and people were beginning to gather, he took his fone and said, oh no mistake I have corrected the mistake your money is #1200.

You might hailed the trip during a surge period.

Assuming surge was 2X at the time, it means you will pay twice the previous fare for the same distance.

So even if a driver manages to change destination for an already initiated trip(which I doubt unless the app is not properly developed), how will that give him an advantage.

So you hail a taxify/uber cab from VI to MM2 and the app estimates 3k, if halfway the driver changes it to Ibadan, will the app change the fare to 10k or 15k if you are not ready to reach Ibadan that day? lol...

taxify app allows drivers to change destination while in transit. A taxify driver has done that to me in abuja.

those guys alter the destination map. Always look at the map not just how much you would pay at the end.

if u are in abuja, try call taxify to the airport, u will receive the shock of your life

A lady in Abuja has busted a Taxify Driver who specialises in tricking his passengers to pay more after their trips.

According to the lady, what the Taxi Driver does is to show the passenger a screenshot of a previously saved trip, which definitely will cost more than the current trip and she was certain a lot of people must have fallen for the trick.

She wrote:

“I requested for Taxify this yesterday morning (21st ), from galadimawa to Karimo in Abuja. I got into the cab, the driver started the trip and we set out.

On getting to our destination. I noticed this guy became very uncomfortable as he kept on operating his phone while driving. I snooped successfully and noticed he closed the taxify app, went to the home page, gallery then he scrolled through some pictures in a folder.

They were actually screenshots of past trips fare summary. I was shocked.
He opened one of the pictures it was N2,400. He then locked his phone with the side button. .

His plan was to unlock the phone and voila my trip is N2,400. Trip ended in a few seconds. I smartly told him to enter a gas station, so if he denies what I just saw him do when confronted, I will show him small madness.

He quietly parked, I told him to end the trip, he put his phone down after a few seconds he tells me it’s #2,400. I requested for his phone, giving him the excuse that my phone was bad. Dude was shocked.

He succumbed, I collected the phone, flipped the page on his screen and saw other taxify trip summaries. I confronted him, he immediately collected his phone, went to the taxify App, ended my trip and it was 1,100.

I gave him #1,500 but he didn’t have 400. So he gave me back my #500. I left his car with a leap of joy. Imagine early morning scam. I don’t know how long this has been going on for, but it’s totally wrong.

I’ve had quite a number of irregularities with trip summaries on Taxify. I have been oblivious of the schemes of these drivers, but I thank God for this encounter that has exposed them.

Please help spread the word. We usually trust the drivers so much that we forget to check our fare summary after every trip on our phones. Stay woke guys.”
