1. Immediate past National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, has joined the governorship race in Kwara State. He will run under the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. Dr. Muyideen Akorede, his Senior
Special Assistant on Media announced Abdullahi’s declaration of intent to contest in the governorship election

2. The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court has ordered the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, to pay N11million
as damages for the breach of fundamental rights of 11 Gombe State indigenes illegally detained by officers of the Nigerian Army.
This followed a fundamental right
enforcement suit which the Applicants filed through their lawyer.

3. Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has set up a committee to resolve the impasse over the demolition of Yinka Ayefele’s Music House in Ibadan. Ajimobi
had set up the committee at a
reconciliatory meeting with the popular musician in his office on Thursday in Ibadan. The governor had claimed at the meeting that the demolition exercise was
neither a witch-hunt nor politically motivated, insisting it was due to contravention of the state ’s property laws.

4. Former governor of Delta State,
Emmanuel Udaughan, has hinted that he will be dumping the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He said his decision was due to the current situation in the State and his political future.

5. The Deputy National Chairman (South) of the Reformed All Progressives Congress (rAPC ), Chief Sam Nkire, has joined the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The former member of APC Board of Trustees (BoT) made the announcement in a statement in
Umuahia on Thursday.

6. A Presidential hopeful on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Unagha Mumakhai, yesterday, told
President Muhammadu Buhari to
reconsider his decision to run for a second term. He told the President that such decision would affect his integrity negatively.

7. A Russian vessel transporting
“dangerous cargo” to Nigeria has been intercepted outside the Port of Ngqura in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) made the
announcement on Thursday. It is
suspected that the vessel was carrying “weapons of mass destruction” and explosives valued at about R50m.

8. The federal government has hinted that President Muhammadu Buhari will present
the 2019 budget to the National Assembly when the lawmakers reconvene in September. Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, who
disclosed this, explained that it was to restore the January to December budget cycle.

9. Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha on Thursday described the defection of some governors of the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party
as painful. He said this in Daura, Katsina State when he led other APC governors to visit President Muhammadu Buhari to felicitate with him in the spirit of the
season. Okorocha said they wished that none of them, especially the governors left the party.

10. Nollywood veteran actor, Chike Osuji, is dead. He passed on at the age of 65. Special assistant to the president of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) on media and
publicity, Ochendo McSmith, has confirmed the demise. Osuji was a native of Umuokoro Awaka in Owerri North Local Government of Imo State.
