Please I'm contemplating about getting a direct tokunbo on a fair budget. So I have Acura MDX and Mazda Tribute in me, I need candid advise on both vehicles: common issues associated with them, availability of spare parts, maintenance cost, resell value after 2years use, and finally, the current prices for direct tokunbo for bother cars ? I will be glad to read responses from all the gurus on this thread. Thanks in advance. HeavenlyBang: |

Jafotech7: You didn't arrange your query very well though, no model year attached Mazda tribute is identical to ford escape first generation of the escape is okay but something with the engine entering limp mode around 150k miles until timing is touched or so for the 1st generation, second generation (2006 upwards or so) I can say is okay, from all indications a neighbor used brandnew unit and it was really reliable. They are good on gas whether i4 or V6 cause they are the light weight of your choice. Acura MDX 2002 to 2006 has a V6 engine option only this generation was plagued by transmission issue less pronounced in 2005 and 06 model but ensure you test the gear selection vigorously or scan b4 u buy the unit. The 2007 upwards is also a V6 but not too good on fuel economy but has power and drives smoothly, you will enjoy it if you love speed and premium interior finish. Lexus RX300 is a reliable horse. It is only available in V6 except for the Japanese variant Toyota Harrier with 4 cylinder engine. The engine and transmission are very solid if well maintained you will only have issues with shocks and steering if Ill maintained and driven without recourse and try and buy better steering oil. 3 Likes |

Thank you for the insightful analysis. As for the Mazda Tribute and Acura MDX, I was looking at the 04/05. Though I have made up my mind to go for the RX 300, and your analysis have just buttress my decision. Abeg which steering oil will you suggest for the RX 300 ? nurey: |

Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by sketcherJ(m): 1:04pm On May 02, 2022 |
Guys in the current economy Can you please list the best brands I can get for 2m - 2.350m? Tokunbo And naija used For personal ride, fuel efficient, luxury, lil bit of speed and not too expensive to maintain. Is Corolla sport in the option? Or is the car a menace? Lol I don’t really know much about cars and wouldn’t want to make a mistake with my first buy |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 1:42pm On May 02, 2022 |
sketcherJ: Tokunbo should be Acura EL though nah leather seat majorly only but finding it.is another challenge Tokunbo honda CRV CUV EX 2002 yo 2006 should have leather and probably DVD with reverse camera the ground clearance should help with bad roads. Naija used find a good lexus ES300 or 330 full option or a lexus RX300 though they possess a V6 engine but luxury is top notch for their generation |

sketcherJ:Can you please rephrase your Question. Do you mean the average price of Toyota Corolla and BMW 3 series in Nigeria? Don't really get you. |

lagusboyyy:yes please thanks |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by lagusboyyy(m): 5:39pm On May 02, 2022 |
sketcherJ:Ohooo. I don't want to be speculative about this, since I'm not a car dealer. You can check out the autos section of Nairaland, there are lot of options available within your budget, but always make sure you go with a reliable and trusted auto mechanic for inspection before buying. Within 1.8 to 2.4, you are sure to see a dope Toyota Corolla 04 and 08 BMW 3 series. The question should be which one is okay for easier maintenance, and with that, i will be honest with you, even though bland and not so exciting to cruise around with, its still the TOYOTA COROLLA. But if high cost of maintenance is not an issue for you, then the BIMMER is the DEAL. |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 6:34pm On May 02, 2022 |

I don't know but just maybe the 2.5m can buy a 2003 lexus ES300 tokunbo or just buy a camry 2002 to 2004 XLE trim with leather seat. |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by shoppyanno(m): 2:04pm On May 07, 2022 |
A 2005 E320 or a 2008 GS 350 Which is more reliable? Which is less problematic? Which is more fuel efficient? Which is maintenance friendly? I've been reading about how LEXUS burns oil, has gear transmission problems, overheating issues. So which is a better choice?

Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 6:29am On May 08, 2022 |
shoppyanno: A tough choice but the GS has more standard luxury offering than the E class. Reliability both are almost on par Problematic apart from the SBS issues in the E class, nothing that tough you can't face. The lexus EPS can fail too when driven in flooded areas. Fuel efficient they aren't fuel efficient vehicles like that because of their class. Maintenance the E class should be cheaper to maintain than the GS |

shoppyanno:Even though i love MB alot, but to be honest that 05 MB E class exterior no follow at all.. Its a dated and out of dopeness design,i would pick an 05 C-class ahead of it. So,in my opinion, the 2008 GS is a better option in all ranking. |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by lagusboyyy(m): 5:04pm On May 08, 2022 |
halaqasa:2014 Honda Accord is a dope mid-size sedan. If you have the cash,go for the Touring Edition, its full option. Next to it in class is the EX-L,not too bad too,but not as loaded as the Touring version. 4 Likes |
