As breeders, vets pet lovers and owners, what do you guys think about tail docking especially for boarboels? Necessary or not?

Not neccessary but then again, if you don't dock the tail it takes away that peculiar nature of that breed.

Ur choice. Ur dog. My Rott and Cane Corso both have docked tails. Love it.

Hmmn... I have a Boerboel. she's 8 weeks. I refused docking her tail. Docking animal parts without health reasons isn't right.

Is not necessary, they look better with their tails intact, unlike the doberman which looks better with docked tail and clipped ears.
Just because the boerbel is a large breed doesn't mean the tail should be docked, those who dock the tail are only trying to copy the Rotweiler.

wrong info man, nobody is copying the rott they were bred to guard and defend farms and homestead and they get into fights with other animals so their tails were usually docked to prevent injury right from their Homeland of South Africa.

Since 2008 In South Africa, docking dogs' tails are illegal except when applied for health reasons.

The regulations says it all. The ban will be effected for dogs which come into SA as there will be scrutiny such as Mastiff, Rott, boerboel (if need be), pittbul, Caucasians but not for dogs leaving SA...
