The current president of the Nigerian Senate announced Thursday, August 30, his candidacy for the presidential election scheduled for February 2019. Bukola Saraki presents himself under the banner of the PDP, the Democratic People's Party. It was only a matter of days, at best weeks. At the approach of the party primaries, Bukola Saraki finally left his reserve on Thursday, confirming what was no more than an open secret: he will be a candidate for the next presidential election, under the banner of the Democratic Party People. A 56-year-old Muslim man, Nigeria's third most important man, the former governor of Kwara State has been in the midst of a war with the head of state Muhammadu Buhari over the last four years: the presidency accuses the Senate to block many laws.
