Why Many Nigerians Die Early by smatinfo: 6:56am On Sep 01, 2018 |
Brought to you by smatinfo The life expectancy of Nigerians is said to be below 50 years Countries like Japan, Britain, China, have life expectancy of over 70 years The factors responsible for sending many Nigerians to early grave are mostly anthropogenic in nature When a typical Nigerian is told the age at which an average Nigeria may die is one or two years less than 50 years, he may look at the person who make such a statement with so much disdain. He believes such a talk is not meant for him. However, the real truth is that some Nigerians sometime go beyond their limit in their day-to-day activities. Many Nigerians over use their body, and place unnecessary burden over their head in order to survive the Nigerian daily hustle. Some of the briefly stated reasons below are responsible for cutting short the life of many Nigerians. 1. Pollution Everywhere is polluted in Nigeria, especially fumes coming from generators in the neighbourhoods which has carbon monoxide (CO). The noise, air, water are other forms of pollution. 2. Poor nutrition Poor feeding due to excuse of trying to save money for the rainy days. The economic situation of the country is telling on many people also. 3. Self- medication There is a wrong notion that the doctor is not needed. Or sometimes, prayers taking over the functions of drugs due to extremism in faith 4. Stress Society-created stress or self-created stress. No time for vacation. No time to relax with family or friends or to socialise. The hustling and bustling in a state like Lagos, is sometimes abnormal. People leave for work very early and close very late. 5. Little of rest, sleep, exercise and medical check-up A person that works late into the night and sleep less than four hours everyday should know he is joking with his health and his life. Medically speaking, the average hour a person should sleep in a day is a minimum of six hours. How many Nigerians observe this, not to talk of going for at least an annual medical check-up source: SMATINFO 17 Likes 1 Share

Adequate Exercise, rest, good sleep, Environmental and personal Hygiene and MONEY. : Many Nigerians are ill because they can’t even afford good food, standard hygiene is acquired with money. In this part of the World we are not disciplined as regards having a daily balance diet we eat anything that comes our way. Exercise is a habit an average Nigerian has never developed. Drug/substance abuse is another issue of public concern. When ill,the poor in Nigeria eventually die due to lack of adequate care in public hospitals. Environmental Hazard(s)/Accident(s) is another reason we have low live expectancy. Take the rough statistics, how many people die from road accidents, armed robbery attacks, Bomb blasts, building Collapse, Cases of murder/Assassination etc per year, thanks to our unserious Government. Conclusion Living in Nigeria is a risk factor for sudden and untimely death. 2 Likes |

This is a long story . When you are healthy u are healthy. Some people might not have seen a professional doctor once in their life and still live longer than those who do all the time. In my observation so far in Nigeria poor men live longer than the rich men. It's all down to God's grace |

smatinfo: Your metabolism goes up when you do physical exercise. That is necessary. But, when you rest, your heart beat decreases; you need that rest. You should balance work and rest, then life expectancy is much higher 1 Like |

The society has its unique way of controlling population, Many are ignorant of this, how do we feel when relations from all angles invade,or come to stay with you in your envied home of compactable six, The phrase ''die early" we refer to has truly done more good than harm to the society 1 Like |

Your question raises my eyes brown... The number 1 causes of premature death in Nigeria is Accident. Did you know many Nigerians lost their lives on daily basis? Just because our government cannot construct good roads and regulate likes of dangote trunks that are on kill spree? Also medical negligence either by our useless doctors or praying for miracle instead to go for treatment. Did you know that many of deaths that occur in our hospital daily cant happen in Japan, China and Britain? For example, many ladies still die during child birth here in Nigeria, to the extent that the moment your sisters or daughters even mothers are pregnant, fear grips everyone that they patronize churches like hospital. My wife just got back from vigil, which i know that without her state of pregnancy, she will be at home. So op, this country is not safe for all, unless you can afford uk treatment.. Did you think without money our president son will still be alive? if common man had accident and fracture his brain, did you think he will still be alive or sane? And op, i lost my dearest sister at 27years old to cold hand of death last 2months due to doctors negligence... I weep for this country 10 Likes |

Put any Nigerian on God's green earth, he will triple his wealth But the earth is not green in Nigeria, and a Nigerian is rarely accepted anywhere in the world So we remain in our caves and pray the cave-ins doesn't come too soon 2 Likes 1 Share |
