metronaija5:
The Nigeria Police Force said it would arraign Ismail Yakubu, 45, in court on Wednesday for giving false information to the police to carry out a search on Chief Edwin Clark’s residence in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that four policemen on Tuesday illegally carried out a search on the Abuja residence of Clark following information from Yakubu.

The force Spokesman, Acting DCP Jimoh Moshood, disclosed this while presenting the informant to newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said that the officer who led the team had been queried while the other three were currently undergoing orderly room trial.

The officers are: ASP David Domnic; Insp. Godwin Musa; Insp. Sada Abubakar and Insp. Yabo Paul.

Moshood added that any police officer carrying out the execution of search warrant must follow the laid down procedures within the law.

“Where such is not followed, such officer must be made to face the consequences of violating the rule of law,”he said.

He said that the police had the statutory right to execute a duly obtained search warrant in any premises where it had actionable intelligence.

Speaking with newsmen, Yakubu, who is from Waru Village in FCT, said he gave the information to the police based on patriotism as a Nigerian.

He said that he was in a taxi along Haile Salesie street , Asokoro, when he was told that a white colour Hilux van loaded with arms was entering the residence of Clark.

“I don’t think I have done anything wrong to have reported the matter to the police,”he said.

The police had apologised to Clark over the unauthorised raid of his residence.

Nothing will happen to that guy. If he were to be a suspect, he will be on the floor begging for his life. He might not know the colour of Clark's house

What's Nigeria turning into. This is like the 100th time an informant is getting arraigned for giving false information to the Police since the coming in of this administration. Where is it done? If an informant gives a tip off, isn't it the duty of the police to investigate before carrying out the operation? I don't understand everything under Buhari. What kind of a curse is following this man? Must everything be about trial and error and damage control?

Last time I read , Saraki visited Edwin Clark and this happened . Is that a coincidence? . I Know in politics anything can happen, especially when one is desperate for power. It has happened before and still happening . The tip may be and may not be rea it is left for the police to act accordingly.
However I just pitied the guy for being the fall guy, the police need to get their act together and improve on their intelligent gathering system.
