2019: Youth Group Decries High Cost Of Nomination Forms by Daniyke88(m): 8:16pm On Sep 05, 2018
As the 2019 election creep upon us, Youth Involvement Advocacy (YIA), a coalition of youth organisations, has raised alarm over the high cost of parties’ nomination forms.

In an interview with NAN on Wednesday in Ibadan, Mr Ezekiel Ilesanmi, the State Coordinator of the group, stated that the high price for the purchase of the Nomination form has militated against young people getting involved in politics.

Ilesanmi asserted that the objective of the “ Not-Too-Young- to-Run’’ advocacy have been defeated as a result of the high fee of Nomination.

“Of what benefit is a law that allows youths to run for political positions but imposes millions of naira as fees for nomination forms?
“How many youths can afford the payment of such outrageous fees in Nigeria?

“Leaders of the respective political parties should put the interest of the youths in mind and reduce the cost of nomination forms for interested youths, ’’ he said.

Ilesanmi who advised that young people to put pressure on the leadership of their respective parties to reverse the hike.

He further urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to put in place processes that would pave way for the conduct of credible, free and fair elections in 2019.

Ilesanmi also admonished the electoral body to carefully accommodate the logo of all registered political parties on the ballot papers so as not to give room for litigation after the polls. (NAN)

Yes it's funny that Nigerians expected (and still expect) a 73-year old, retired and under-educated millitary dictator to lead a complex, dynamic, multi-ethnic and multi-religious Nigeria of nearly 200-million people to becoming a prosperous country in this 21st century of super-complex global economy.
This would have been an epic definition of clownishness if not that it is also a national tragedy.
Yes, it is even more funny that sane youths are supporting him while he mortgages their future and the future generations into debts and poverty
