THE organised labour unions in Osun State, on Friday, served Governor Rauf Aregbesola-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration another 7-day notice of industrial action to demand the payment of backlog of 36- months salary arrears, remittance of monthly pension deduction to Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) and 2016 leave bonus to workers.
This development followed the three days warning strike earlier declared last week, after which the civil servants resumed duties.
But, with this development, the workers would commence 7-day strike action by Monday, next week.
In a correspondence issued on Friday titled “Re: Memorandum of Understanding Between Osun State Government and Leadership of Labour Unions signed on Saturday, December 2017”, the labour unions, comprising of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), they called on Aregbesola to honour the agreement in the interest industrial peace. The letter, which was addressed to the governor and signed by the state NLC chairman, Comrade Jacob Adekomi and TUC chairman, Comrade Adebowale Adekola reads thus “Sir, in view of the unabated hardship that workers and pensioners in the state are being subjected to, total refusal to officially meet our demands, we are constrained to use this medium to give the government of Osun State 7-day notice of strike action, effective from Monday, 10th , September 2018 if all demands are not met within the stipulated period.”
According to the letter obtained by Saturday Tribune, “the joint labour movement, after critical review of the unbending posture of the government, even after the 3-day warning strike to accede to the demands of workers and thereby ameliorate their deplorable and pathetic condition occasioned by non payment of their 34 months arrears of salaries, pensions and gratuities, hereby resolves as follows.”
“That payment of 34 months salary arrears of 50 per cent for officers on grade level 08 and above, which is an equivalent of 17 months full salary be paid immediately.”
“That payment of 34 months’ salary of 50 per cent for officers on Grade level 08 and above which is an equivalent of 17 months full salaries be paid immediately
“That payment of 34 months pension arrears of retired workers in the state be paid immediately”, among others. https://www.tribuneonlineng.com/163363/

Yet VP Osinbajo went to Osun to flag off the vote buying scam scam called "tradermoni" while the FG secretly paid the Aregbejegbese government the election prosecution funds as bailout funds unknown to the other governors.

Osun state has been grounded by incompetence and bad governance.
As we write:

1) Osun State polytechnic, Iree, is presently on STRIKE.

2) Osun State college of technology, Essa oke, is presently on STRIKE.

3) College of Education, Ila Orangun, Osun State is presently on STRIKE.

4) College of Education, Ilesa, Osun State is presently on STRIKE.

5) LAUTECH University that is jointly owned by Osun and Oyo is presently on strike because Osun refuses to play its roles.

6) All Osun Civil Servants will go on strike starting from August 28th.

Nothing is working under APC in Osun state right now.
Salaries are not paid, hunger and poverty have enveloped the state.

Account for how You Plunge Osun into Misery,Adeleke Fires Back at Aregbesola

Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party,Senator Ademola Adeleke has fired back at Governor Rauf Aregbesola ,tasking him to account for how he plunged the state into indebtedness and misery.

Reacting to the Governor's questioning of his qualification for Governorship ,Adeleke in turn raised questions about shady engineering credentials of Governor Rauf Aregbesola ,asking "fake engineer has run our state aground.

"I call on the governor to account for how he accumulated so much debt with questionable capital projects while still unable to pay salaries and pensioners' emolument .Our people are interested in knowing how misery and poverty have trippled under his watch ",Adeleke said.

He noted that in this election the determining yardstick is the welfare of the people which has nosedived under Aregbesola administration ,adding "all efforts to divert attention from reality will be rejected by our people.

" By the constitution and extant laws ,I am qualified to run for Governorship .And as a Senator of the Federal republic ,I have demonstrated capacity and innovation.Osun people want solution provider ,not harbinger of half salary and repressive governance ",Adeleke retorted.

He restated his committement to better the lives of Osun people through his six point agenda ,adding "Our first focus will be tackling poverty and restoring worker's welfare.

"We will place people's welfare first .We will stop capital flight. We will boost internal prosperity. We will patronize local artisans.Governance will be about the people ,not some paymasters from Lagos",he noted in statement signed by the campaign's Director of Media and Publicity ,Olawale Rasheed .

Press Statement

N16b Secret Release To Osun Is Corruption, PDP Tells Buhari.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) accuses President Muhammadu Buhari of aiding corruption in the secret release of over N16.6 billion Paris Club fund to Osun state.

PDP says its investigation has revealed that the N16.67bn is to be diverted as bribe to INEC officials, compromised international observers as well as pay hoodlum contracted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in its desperate plot to rig the September 22, 2018 Osun Governorship elections.

The party said it is reprehensible that President Buhari, whose handlers have been parading as ‘Mr. Integrity’, could approve such dark scheme to convert funds meant for payment of several months’ arrears of workers’ salaries to bribe electoral officers and pay thugs to foist a rejected leadership on an already impoverished people.

Further investigation reveals that bulk of the money has already been penciled for sharing to APC leaders, especially at the national level, as bribe, to short-circuit the system to favour President Buhari’s relection bid, while the people of Osun continue to suffer deprivation.

The PDP has been further made aware of how part of the fund will be moved to private company accounts as well as various hidden locations for the compromised INEC officials and APC leaders.

Indeed, these revelations have clearly shown that the Buhari Presidency and the APC care less about the welfare of Nigerians and have completely sold themselves to sleazes and corruption for selfish gains.

The PDP therefore charges the people of Osun State, particularly the workers to rise up and reject this direct assault on their rights, sensibilities and survival as a people, by the APC, which have become notorious for corruption and subversion of rules.

Moreover, the PDP has been at alert regarding the movement of these funds and other secret deals between the APC and INEC and will not hesitate to expose the INEC officials, including a close relation of the President, who has been the arrow head of plots to rig elections for the APC.

The PDP invites the world to note how President Buhari and the APC, who were huge beneficiaries of credible elections conducted by the PDP in 2015, are bent at destroying our hard-earned democracy, just because they have been rejected by Nigerians.

Nevertheless, in spite of these machinations, the PDP wants the APC to know that it has not retracted the resolve to contend with it head to head, in all ramifications and magnitude, to discomfit and dismantle its rigging machinery, beginning with September 22, 2018 Osun state governorship election.

The PDP commends state governors, particularly a few in the APC, who have spoken out against this sneaky act by the Buhari Presidency.

Our party will continue to work with these patriotic individuals in the overall quest to free our nation from the shackles and misrule of the Buhari-led APC.
