Solomon Okoehanlen, a podiatrist at Castlemill Podiatry Services (CPS) Abuja Nigeria called for more awareness and capacity building to challenge the growing prevalence of diabetes and its impediments. He meant that ignorance and lack of prompt referral among some practitioners in Nigeria as factors fuelling amputation among diabetic patients in the country. He meant that some practitioners in Nigeria are not aware the importance of a podiatrist or a chiropodist.He meant that person living with diabetes who doesn’t receive correct foot care screening from a podiatrist will over time come down with serious complications of diabetes which may lead to amputation.
