Is Polygamy A Sin In Christianity? by Dreamkiller: 3:53am On Sep 11, 2018
polygamy is necessary to give unmarried women a chance at marriage. because to me I believe women are the ones searching for husbands than men.

if you go to some churches you'll understand what I mean, you see women that are not married praying for God's intervention in their lives.

There's no place in the bible that stops any Christian from having more wives because people in the Bible were polygamous and every woman had a husband.

Even in the bible a widow was allowed to marry someone that had a wife already.

Zachariah who was serving in God's temple, the father of John the Baptist had two wives.

polygamy is not in anyway ones standard of holiness.

Exodus 21vs10 proves that a man can marry as many woman as he wants.

in Deuteronomy 21 vs 15 even gives a law concerning polygamy that says; "If a man has two wives, and he loves one but not the other, and both bear him sons...."

2 Samuel 12:8
8. I gave your master's house to you, and your master's wives into your arms . I gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more .

GOD Almighty here supposedly says that He gave to David Saul's wives, and GOD would have even given him more wives if he (David) wanted.

Matthew 22:24-28 , Jesus did not prohibit at all for the childless widow to marry her husband's brother, even if here were
already married . Instead, Jesus replied to them by saying that we do not marry at the resurrection (before Judgment), and we will be like angels in heaven ( Matthew 22:30 ).

If Jesus, during his stay on earth in that Jewish culture, allowed for a widow to marry her former husband's brother, even if he were already married , then this negates the Christians' claim about the Bible prohibiting polygamy. A man can be one flesh with more than one woman. In the case of Matthew 22:24-28 , the man can be one flesh with his wife, and one flesh with his deceased brother's wife. Also keep in mind that
Exodus 21:10 allows a man to marry an infinite amount of women, and
Deuteronomy 21:15 allows a man to marry more than one wife.

conclusion: it's better to marry another wife rather than commit adultery.

please if you have your reasons state below and tell me why Christians should not practice polygamy.

Can you share your wife with different men? I guess no...

Then why should different women share one husband?

I asked a question is polygamy a sin? you didn't answer me.
I even gave bible portions that supports it.

in polygamy you have friends built into the family...you're never alone!

Help with the chores, babysitting, and etc. It's not for everyone but it is for some people.

I declare it a sin
Re: Is Polygamy A Sin In Christianity? by Dreamkiller: 4:25am On Sep 11, 2018
It is known that in society (generally speaking) there are more women than men so these woman are deprived of marriage and they remain single and celibate resulting in harm and difficulty upon them.

if everyman should get married to one woman then they'll still be women remaining, then who's going to marry the remaining women.
Re: Is Polygamy A Sin In Christianity? by Dreamkiller: 4:27am On Sep 11, 2018
Men are more prone to diseases and illnesses than women; men are exposed to war and battle, and to dangers.

Many men die in battles, wars and natural disasters – many, many numbers of men pass away in this manner.

So women are left behind, single and no longer married. So plural marriage alleviates this difficulty in society without doubt.

do not argue , I have declared it a sin already, you are quoting old testament to support your claim. Didn't Paul say that marriage should be between a man and a woman? Did he not day it by the spirit of God?
Re: Is Polygamy A Sin In Christianity? by Dreamkiller: 4:29am On Sep 11, 2018
woman reaches her menopause usually in her 50’s, then her sexual desires fade. As for a man, then his desires do not fade away and his sexual strength and preparedness for women remains into old age.

So it is not correct that he remains for the rest of his life being forbidden from having more children, and forbidden from enjoyment of intimacy.

so does it mean the man should not have sex again after the wife has reached menopause, I.e if the woman had lie about their age..or if she didn't.

You should be the next minister of women affairs

which is worse polygamy or adultery.

is it not better for a man to marry another wife than commit adultery or formication.
Re: Is Polygamy A Sin In Christianity? by Dreamkiller: 4:33am On Sep 11, 2018
In adulterous and promiscuous relationships, women are treated like sexual objects having no rights over the man who uses them and discards them. He is not called to account, and hides his mistress from his wife, his mother and family.

She is treated like a shameful creature who must be hidden away only of use for sexual gratification – whilst the wife is deceived into thinking that her husband is loyal and loving!

The ‘mistress’ is not cared for, protected or provided for.

Any children born from an adulterous relationship are quite often shunned having no rights.
Re: Is Polygamy A Sin In Christianity? by Heartbender: 4:41am On Sep 11, 2018
The arguments in this post is misleading. Polygamy is a sin! Matt 19:6; Mark 10:8;Eph 5:31; 1 Corinthians 7; 1 Tim 3:2, 12; Titus 1:6; Luke 1:5; Acts 5:1. I can give you more scriptures to study. Remember, for this cause shall a man leave his parents and cling to his wife (not wives) and they shall become as one flesh.
The instances of polygamy recorded in the bible were very minute and God did not approve of it simply because He did not rebuke it.

I ask again

Can you share your wife with different men?
These men would be family, they would help with work, building the home etc

As for the scriptures you quoted, they are all old testament. Christians are now in the new covenant, that means we are not bound by the law anymore.

There are some acts in the old testament we MUST not continue doing as christians.
Eg.
Many mighty men in the old testament slaughtered animals for remission of sins, etc. Does that mean we should do same?

Of course not. CHRISTians follow Christ, not abraham, david, moses et al.

So go to the Lord in prayer to give you clear answers on correct christian marriage, instead of copying & following old testament polygamists...

but Jesus said he didn't come to destroy the law rather to fulfill it.

for your question, will an unmarried woman share a married man the answer is yes. will a married man share his wife the answer is no it's nature you can't avoid it.

You are quoting scripture out of context.

Again I say

Go to the Lord in prayer and ask Him to tell you His will concerning marriage.

If u like dont pray, if you like marry many wives, that one na your headache...

You've not been reading your new testament.

KingPapaya:
You've not been reading your new testament.

Matthew 25:1 "Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom."

The "bride groom" here is referring to Jesus. We all agree on that. The 10 virgins are all engaged to marry Jesus. 5 of the virgins are wise.

The other 5 are foolish & they don't actually get to marry Jesus. But the 5 wise virgin women do eventually marry Jesus. Of course this is symbolic of the church being the bride of Christ. But it is also Jesus talking, here in the NEW TESTAMENT & HE is using the analogy of polygamy concerning himself & the new covenant church!

Many people try to claim that Mark 10:8 and Gen.2:24 says that a man can have only one wife. And how can 3-4 wives be one flesh with a man?

But Matt.25 and 1 Cor.12:12 explains that a man can have many wives and still be one with them. The many members of the body of Christ, the church, are many, but are STILL ONE IN UNITY

bro how am I quoting out of context.?

with polygamy The family can be more profitable. Men are less likely to cheat outside of the home, and therefore they will be more loyal to their wives & family and be better husbands.
Re: Is Polygamy A Sin In Christianity? by Dreamkiller: 3:48am On Sep 17, 2018
Less cheating outside of the house. Less lies & deceit.

Less chances of bringing home diseases from prostitutes and one night stands.

- Less homosexuality. people who practised polygamy were excluded from the HIV pandemic that rubbished Africans.

I dnt think its a sin to be polygamus but it helps with peace of mind to be monogamus..cos seriously, dealing with more than one entitled woman in ur house, dear lord i can only imagine.

Your last point is unfounded and frankly silly but even if its true(the hiv part, de gay part is rubbish) polygamus wives are usually waaay too docile and submissive, have noe minds of their own and often not do not remarry. They live a life of misery. Dats not a way to live i guess both are bad.
