Grow up please. Sex between two adults for christsake
Two adults who knew the school they submitted themselves to frowned at premarital sex.
The school certifies her graduates in character and learning so they have right to probe into sexual behaviour of potential graduates in order to certify the character part. Even if the guy escapes the sex part he won't escape the lies and would be duly expelled 15 seconds after the court order is effected.

Why would CU expel someone because of sex outside school?
Premarital sex. They frown at it and the people involved weren't married. Stop going to places where you cant abide by rules.

This type of logic is narrow-minded and falls short of progressive thinking. "Submitted themselves to" is it a cult? Your argument is child is at best, the issue requires intelligent thought, not inflexible policies "No Sex" which in no way addresses the issue of premarital sex. Clearly, the policy stems from the church values, while I don't advocate dumping it all together, a more matured way to go would be to spend more time in educating and implementing effective programmes for a safe sexual interactions amongst the students. The school ends up stigmatizing the studentsbecause of it standoffish policy that obviously hasn't prevented premarital sex. Spend more money, and time on educating the students on dangers of causal sexl.

Brigham Young University in the US would do the same thing.

All schools have their policies and philosophies which students, and guardians are aware of before they join the school.

I doubt if the registrar and members of staff at Brigham Young University are sexual predators.

Two Adults you say? Rules are rules!...The rules were read out to them from day one...so no way you will come out and say it's a glorified secondary school...

Indeed, rules are rules. However, those rule have only existed in secondary schools in Nigeria. Maybe incorporating it into a university setting makes such university more of a glorified secondary school. Just maybe. Beyond that, I think members of staff who flaunt this rules but impose them on students explain so much about the hypocrisy going down at CU.

See, there is a rule of law that and one of it is the constitutional safeguard of the right of a citizen. The constitution supersedes any other rules or laws anywhere. Many are left with the choice of going there because of the terrible situation of the country and of course, parental influence. The management should not capitalize on that to infringe on their right.

A school that a house of rep son was expelled from and them no gree hear I beg... u think they send you there? The man thought because of his influence he could talk to Bishop and they will reinstate the child... For where? Papa asked the man to go and make his case before the School authorities as he has nothing to do with meddling in their affairs... They have rules and they follow it strictly... Oga house of rep had to take shame to enrol his child again in another school...glorified sec school or not, one thing u can't take away from them is strict adherence to the school rules... And the good thing is, all the CU graduates I know are very decent and disciplined... So leave that thing o...let them continue to be strict... It is for the general good.

This adherence of rules definitely doesn't apply to principal officials like the registrar and other members of staff.

Bro no need for this rant, I am just stating the obvious, just because I own a company does not mean I have to treat my employees like slaves, according to your logic I could just tell my employees to work for 60 hours a week like some companies do and pay them a very low salary after all it is my company.

It being his school doesn't mean he has to act unresponsible, everyone has a responsibility to play in the society. You can advise students on what to do and tell them not to have sex until they are married but you trying to enforce it and expelling students for having sex is just so wrong and immoral as a university school owner. This is the 21st century for God's sake, no one except the parents has any right to tell an 18-year-old what to do with his body. If you say the school is following the examples of Christ should be more concerned on how to reform the bad students just like Jesus did when he said that he came for the sinners and not the righteous. The closest lady to Jesus was a former prostitute and he was accused by the religious leaders of always parting and moving with sinners.

It is so funny that these Christian hypocrites always say is it your school, is it your money, is it your church etc. why is it not the same when our politicians steal government money after all is the government money your money or is the white man's money a yahoo boy is stealing your money. wake up bro and stop been blinded by name, these so-called men of God are the same as you and would stand the same Judgement as you would look beyond their charade.

Lol, I agree there is some sort of hypocrisy and I am working hard every day to dispel it, after all, I am not perfect. The school has every right to advise me on the path to take but they do not have to force me to obey some sick law.

Let us take a student who decides to obey the school rules but in his mind, he is like let me just get out of here, I would do all the fornication in the world. Is Covenant or Oyedepo going to sack him when he leaves the school, of course not, at the end of the day they have not done anything in the student life and the student soul is still lost to God. The only thing the school is creating is just to get men's praise that it is holy etc. I do not think it is actually changing people's life.

The argument of "If you don't like the school principles then you can't talk about it" is one of the worst arguments ever. Since I am not a lady, I do not have any right to condemn rape of a lady simply because it is not my body. If something is not right we have to say it is not, that is the way it should be. No one in this world is perfect and we should all try to help each other not try to condemn and destroy other people lives and claim we are doing so because of Jesus. Was it not the same Jesus that partied with sinners, his closest companions were sinners and former prostitutes. He said I do not condemn anyone, he was ready to accept anybody and change the person's life how does what covenant do compare with the life and teachings of Jesus.

you are wrong. May aren't left with the choice of going there, many choose to go there...money is a prerequisite, remember? There is a handbook that States everything in it, there are backlogs of stories about how the school is run by its owners and the rules they will be signing up for, no one is forced to go there. They have choices...so crying foul or crying about human rights infringement is just useless. BTW, do you know the first set of students were not even allowed communication gadgets to begin with? The advent of tabs and WhatsApp on tabs gave the school no choice

I should inform you that many Nigerians can afford private universities even if it requires obtaining loans from the bank and putting up properties for sale, they only choose not to. My family could too, but I have always been an influential stakeholder in the family and I sensed the danger earlier enough not to have been pushed into it. Many others, on the other hand, can't even look their fathers in the eye to voice their opinion, after all, it wouldn't ever count.

Certainly, we both agree on infringement on there right. Because rules are rules doesn't make them right. Killing of twins was a laid down law in Calabar but definitely wasn't the right thing to do until Mary slessor saved the day. Let's assume the courts won't blink an eyelid over it, interested NGOs can make a huge changes by keeping the the school in the eye of the public.

Finally, hypocrisy is when men in authority bend protocol to suit themselves but implement it to the latter on their subject. Many other crazy things happen daily there but the rules have subdued their voices and until another stubborn, unruly kids like these ones decide to make a public mess of everything again, no one gets to hear.

so, what you are saying in essence is that, people know they don't do what they do in their school, yet buy forms to do what they do and then come back to cry that what they do is unfair and so they need to do what they used to do before they got into the school. Nah! Can't work that way. There is no place where there are no bad eggs. Even in the strictest of organisations... The mistake cov uni made was to give muyiwa too much power too fast. As a student, he was made untouchable, his girlfriend, now wifey walked around equally untouchable...alongside all their friends or should insay "ally" and with little experience, he was made the registrar. He was simply power drunk. If u know u know

Many kids go to covenant university on parental influence. No one would be asked to choose between freedom and restriction and would settle for the latter, especially teens and young adults.

Mayowa's infidelity and abuse of power represent the nature of man. While he doesn't represent the university community at large, one can only imagine what manner of other cruel sexual predators masquerading as lecturers and residing on that campus which the world never gets to know because of these rules that have subdued the students completely.

sorry to burst your bubble, 90% students in Nigeria don't go to the schools they actually want for themselves or study courses they originally registered for. You are bent on this human right thing, won't work here cos they know what they are signing up for already and still go for it.
Personally I will prefer my kids to just go do their bsc, four years straight and by age 20 choose any school of their choice for MSC, human right can go to hell. No time biko. What foolish experience does public uni offer sef? Sex? Postinor? Abortion? Live in lovers? Clubbing? Running after lecturers and buying handouts to pass? Strikes? Is it the breast they are displaying my kid will miss?
Unlike public uni where stuff like the registrar's wahala happens everyday, we all know something like this can never be swept under the carpet as long as the victim speaks out. There are bad eggs everywhere, it just takes courage and evidence to speak up. At least we know, even if this stuff is also happening in cov uni, it is also being dealt with very seriously and it is not also as bad as public unis

Of course, many don't decide so that still explains why there find themselves at CU. The truth is majority, being minor as at that time, didn't understand the gravity of what they were signing up for. Reality only dawn on them when a few had to go home for trivial offences.

We don't have to be economical with the truth. Everything in bold apart from industrial action happen in private owned universities too. No public owned varsity has a club inside it, at least, to the best of my knowledge. These activities happen outside the schools. Just like the sex scandal involving the registrar and the students. Just like you've seen both students and alumni staring clear off the this topic to avoid victimization, that's how you'd never see them discuss the rot in the system for the same reason.

I'm yet to see any serious step being taken by the University on this issue. No statement to assure parents that their wards are still in good hands away from the sexual predators on campus. And yes, it isn't as bad as public universities but it's definitely a matter of time for things to get really worse with the likes of Mayowa at the helm of affair.

Finally, if human right doesn't mean anything to you, then CU is the place for your children. Wish you luck.

knowing covenant, muyiwa can never remain the registrar, whether he is found guilty or not.
The school my kids will go by His grace, has not be ascertained yet. But if it is cov uni, its not a bad choice at all.
Alumni isn't staying clear off it, infact their page is agog with activity and the call to remove muyiwa out of office. He wasn't too good to a lot of people.
You do know that you don't have to attend a club to party crazy in a public school and you don't have to seek exeat and lie about your destination to go clubbing in a public school...extreme freedom, dats my point.
Anyway, to each his view point. You understand better where you are coming from, doesn't mean you are wrong.

Dear All,

Info coming out from CU campus as regards this sex allegation case, says their stand is:

1. that the accused official should just continue with his daily duties and assignments, and stop bothering about responding to anybody.

2. that the ex-student in question who started all the whole public outcry on twitter has been discredited as a liar, with his leaked voice notes and the subsequent responses from the other two ladies involved in his saga.

3. that so, the alleged publicly circulated chat screenshots are not tenable as evidences under this discredited circumstances.

4. that anyone who alleges any misconduct should come out and speak up, with concrete and reliable evidences (audio, video, etc).

5. that all the public bashing, raising dust on social media and the online petitions, amount to nothing without concrete evidences.

6. that except concrete evidences are tendered, all allegations will just appear like foolishness and stupidity before MGT board and Papa (Oyedepo).

7. that until persons are courageous enough to step out with concrete evidences, the accused has no case to answer.

Thank you.

... ... ...
So, you guys are advised to either step out with concrete evidences, or stop raising unnecessary dust in the public domain; and better go and face your personal life and businesses. ... Lol!
