The police in Malawi have arrested three Nigerians over their alleged invovlement in illicit drug trade in the country.

Nze Chidiebere, 27, was found with four parcels of cannabis, weighing 4kgs, while Collins Okoligwe Amaechi, 30, and Kingsley Olisa were caught with an apomorphine drug.

There has been concerns of an apparent increase in the illicit drug business in Malawi and in May this year Malawian national, Riyadh Randera, 26, died in Brazil.

He took the trip without his parents’ knowledge and swallowed cocaine-filled condoms to evade security, but the condoms burst in him.

A Nigerian man, Alex Ojukwu, who confessed to having bought an air ticket for Riyadh for the trip, was later arrested by the police.

In saner climes the govt would be concerned at how people from a particular region are deeply involved in narcotic crimes that taints her image in the comity of nations and find ways to curb it. All they need is to engage the region's traditional, religious and polictal leaders who wield so much influence among the people there and make them speak to their people about the dangers of such adventures
