Udom has tried. You must be a biased person. Live a life free from hate and bias. Hospitals in Lagos do not look like this. This is better than any Government Hospital in your state.

Yes,hospitals are meant to look like that....until you realize that in order to maintain that hopsital either of two things are going on

1. The country where that hospital is located pays HIGH taxes .....up to 50% of your annual income.

2.The average hospital bills in that hospital are probably higher than what Nigerians can afford. For example,a Caesarean in a Nigerian hospital might cost $1000 while a cesarean in a foreign hospital might cost $15000

The budget too has to be taken into consideraton. Healthcare budgets in foreign countries are far higher than the entire budget in Nigerian countries. As an example...a Nigerian hospital might be lucky to get a budget of $20million...whereas a foreign hospital can get budgets up to $500million.

If you want that kind of hospital in Nigeria...be prepared to pay high taxes....higher than what you pay now....or pay N2million naira for common appendicectiomy for example.

1. The hospitals you are showing us are the 'tertiary' hospitals in those countries...while Ituk Mbang is a secondary hospital.

2.Botswana is a country that is one of the largest producers of diamonds and platinum...and has a population of 2.5million. Nigeria has 200million people...and produces the same amount ofoil as the UAE. (In other words,we are not rich...and our elite make matters worse by being corrupt).

3.Both Botswana and Rwanda had visionary leaders who crucially knocked down the tribe issues. Nigeria ? We are yet to agree on who a visionary leader is, and we prefer to argue on how we would share the money

The thing is, there's nothing that will ever be done to satisfy people. I'm not a fan of Udom but if I fail to tell him thank you, I wouldn't be fair enough. I bet most of us saying that we don't expect this kind of hospital in this 21st century don't even have a suitable place to treat common malaria. We must bear in mind that just a state governor can't make Nigeria �� a developed country, we need a lot of hard work and commitment to make our dear country walk gloriously out of being a developing country. It begins with a step.
I schooled in that village called Ituk mbang, I knew the pathetic and awful situation that was of that hospital that the first day I stepped my feet on that land when I was admitted into school of midwifery, I cried why I even chose midwifery as my specialty. I was always scared touching any equipment to use on patients, even to sit down on any bed was war for me. That was one of the best hospitals in our state but had long been forgotten. I must say Governor UGE has done well and noble for transforming this place to what it is today. Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? It just did, the next he has to tackle is security issues cuz the youth of that village and neighbouring villages are terrible. They steal and Rob in Broad day light, I mean it. The road to the airport had no streetlights cuz they had vandalised the solar battery and stolen them all, but when I passed there few weeks ago, I loved what I saw. If you don't know how this place was, you won't appreciate while we are celebrating this. Kudos Deacon, but you woke up rather late. I wish you well though in your political ambition.

Thanks to the governor for his advocacy in primary healthcare. Truth is in 5yrs this place will be over run with weeds n grasses. The state hospital your predecessor spent billion to build is now nothing to write home about. Still you try atleast a few will benefit at this early stage. We need the tertiary healthcare revive as well as the secondary. Let be sincere how many government hospitals can one point out in Akwa Ibom state with confidence to function effectively .no be to build houses full ground oh

Imagine how it was when i served there in 2009. No light, no water, over grown with bush, ancient structures. We use to go to the ravine to fetch water. I'm so happy it has taken a new look
