A woman has been publicly beaten in front of a crowd animated by having an out-of-wedlock relationship in the ultra-conservative Muslim province of Indonesia.

The harsh penalty was carried out in a public square and the curious took photos in Banda Aceh in the Indonesian province of Aceh on Thursday.

"Single men and women who are not close relatives should not eat and drink at the same table, because it is sinful according to the Sharia law," he said.




The regulation also prohibits restaurants and cafeterias from hiring lesbian, gay or bisexual or transgender people as waiters or waitresses, I added.

In 2014, the legislators of the province passed to that law that punishes the homosexual sex by means of public lashes and subjects to the nonMuslim ones to the most strict interpretation of the law of the Sharia in the region.

People convicted of adultery, gambling and alcohol consumption already face canning.

Women who wear tight clothes and people who skip Muslim prayers on Friday are also punished.

Hundreds of people have been publicly beaten since the punishment was introduced in Aceh in 2005.
