Ogun APC: Dapo Abiodun kicks against indirect primary

An Ogun state gubernatorial aspirant, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has kicked against the idea of the All Progressives Congress (APC) going for indirect primaries where consensus fails for the party’s elective positions.

Dapo faulted the fictitious plans by the party to conduct its primary elections through the delegates’ system.

He described the plan to elect flag bearers of the party for 2019
election through the delegates’ system as an indirect admittance of failure on the part of the outgoing governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

He said that a government that is really in touch with the people would not be afraid of putting its fate in the hands of the electorate.

He made this known today during a consultation visit to a three-term former member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Isiak Abiodun Akinlade and other leaders in Owode-Yewa.

While addressing party members in the town, Prince Dapo Abiodun faulted Governor Amosun’s self-acclaimed love for Ogun West.

He explained that the outgoing governor should have demonstrated his love for the people of Yewa and Awori land through the execution of meaningful projects in their land instead of attempting to foist an unpopular candidate on them.

He promised to prove his love to the people of Ogun West by
addressing the infrastructural and human capital deficits in the
senatorial district and also create jobs for the youths through
industrialization and entrepreneurial scheme.

He implored party members across the state not to give up on their clamour for direct primaries as recommended by the national leadership of the party, assuring them that there is no going back until the will of the people prevails.

He also urge party faithful to use the ongoing continuous membership registration of the party via the internet to drive the membership of the party.

Abiodun Akinlade, who was once a leading gubernatorial candidate from Ogun West senatorial zone for the party pledged his unalloyed support to Dapo Abiodun’s quest to make Ogun State a model for other states.

He described Prince Dapo Abiodun as a selfless individual who shares his wealth without discrimination.

Akinlade recalled that the business mogul’s generosity was
instrumental to his election as the member representing Yewa-South/Ipokia Federal constituency in the House of Representatives in 2003.

The agreement initially was that if consensus fails, the party then goes for direct primary.
Has that changed?
