Ex-LG Boss Lauds Okowa’s Kind Gesture Over Unpaid LG Staff Salaries

FOLLOWING the directive to upset local government workers’ salary arrears by the state Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Chairman, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Hon. Chuks Oseme has applauded the governor for his kind gesture.
The council boss, who described the governor’s kind gesture as that of a true democrat, said that Governor Okowa has indeed exhibited what he stands for (Ekwueme), saying that the council in return would work hard to ensure his re-election.
Speaking in Asaba, shortly after the governor announced the release of N5 billion to upset the unpaid salary arrears of council workers across the 25 local governments in the state, Oseme said that the gesture will complement his giant strides in the past three years.
He said, “Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is truly the Ekwueme of Delta politics. He works his promise to the state. We have all been wondering how the governor has been able to carry on with the projects he is running in several communities in the state, despite the drop in resources to the state. And now, he has given directive to all the council chairmen to clear all the backlog of the workers’ salaries, in fact, he has done again, what he is known for.”
Oseme said that this kind gesture would go a very long way in ameliorating the financial sufferings of the workers at the council level, hence boost the welfare, as well as attitude to work.
While he gave a thumb up to the Governor, Oseme expressed satisfaction with the developmental strides of Governor Okowa in the midst of the economic challenges.
He posited that the vote of confidence passed so far on the governor is devoid of any form of political sycophancy but that it was borne out of a careful and systemic analysis of the governor’s achievements so far, which he described as amazing. The chairman commended Governor Okowa for being resourceful with the dwindled income to the state and therefore, called on Deltans, particularly Aniocha North indigenes to strengthen their support for the present administration in order to enable it achieve its vision of “Prosperity for All Deltans.
He said that Governor Okowa’s achievements have been tremendous and that is being attested to by all Deltans, adding that most importantly, at a time like this, all hands should be on deck to deliver Governor Okowa for second tenure.
Oseme charged the electorate in Delta State to sustainthe current ‘good developments’ in the state by ensuring that Governor Okowa, is re-elected in the 2019 general election.
