There’s a popular saying that says, “never despise the days of your little beginnings.” That’s exactly what Google is doing today 27th September 2018 as they mark their 20th birthday anniversary by celebrating it with a streetview picture of the garage where Sergey Brin and Larry Page set up the very first Google office. Ironically, the garage doesn’t belong to either of them, it belongs to Susan Wojcicki. Today Google is one of the biggest and richest company in Silicon valley.



Google’s name is derived from a mathematical term called “Googol”.



This is a name given to the number that starts with a one and is followed by one hundred zeros. Looking back right now you can see the name makes more sense because it represents the fact that they were creating a search engine that would provide large amounts of information.

2. Google has goats in their headquarters

Yeah they have real life goats in their compounds and the goats are not there for peppersoup. The goats are there to cut the grass at the lawns. This method is a lot cheaper than having to hire machinery to keeps cutting the grass. Imagine if our Nigerian universities use this method, people will mock the school and insult the VC but one of the world’s biggest tech giants are using it.

3. “I’m feeling lucky” button costs Google over $110 million every year

This is because it would bypass all the advertisements to go to the top search straight away. Advert revenue is one of the key ways Google generates income so using this button just makes you go straight to the first website instead of clicking the ones running Google ad words.

4. Google acquired Android company for just $50 million only

Yes you heard me right. The world’s biggest mobile OS which powers over 80% of the world’s smartphone was bought for just $50 million dollars in 2005. Whenever Google buys a company, they leave it in the hands of the founders to make it a success. Today you all will agree with me that the world’s favorite OS is a very huge success. Google also aquired other companies including YouTube, Blogger and so on.

at least they dont buy,downgrade and despose other company, unlike a particular company that decided to use the forbiding fruit as logo and brand name
