- urges the students to intensify efforts in fight against cultism


The Bayelsa State Vigilante Service, has pledged it's willingness to work closely with various organs of security agencies in order to tackle the menace of unlawful use of hard drugs by teenage youths in the state.

Chairman of the service, Evangelist Parkins Ogede, stated this while playing host to a delegation of African Students Union Parliament (ASUP), who paid him a courtesy visit and presentation of ASUP Pan-African Servant Leadership Award on him in Yenagoa.

He said, the campaign against drugs abuse at various levels and institutions of higher learning will not be successful, until stringent measures are put in place to curtail the excess spread of the illicit trade in the African sub-region.

This, according to Evangelist Ogede, will help go a long way in educating the populace of the dangers of taking hard drugs, urged the Students Union Parliament to also intensify it's fight against cultism in their various institutions.

He explained that, from the available statistics, most drugs addicts are cultists who took drugs to cause mayhem and inflict pains in the society, stressing that, such hardened criminals can barely hurt a fly without the influence of hard drugs.

On the proposed enlightenment campaign against drugs abuse slated for the first week of December at the University of Africa, Toru-Orua, the Amassoma born security Chief, assured them of his continued supports.

In their separate remarks, the Speaker of the Parliament,Rt. Hon. Kewul Mensah- Abel, his Deputy, Hon. Akin Kouassi, Chairman, House Committee on Award and Privileges, Hon. Adjei Frimpong and Deputy Clerk, Comrade Ozim Temple; who spoke, applauded the visionary leadership qualities of Evangelist Parkins Ogede in turning the fortunes of the security architecture of the state for better.

High point of the visit was the presentation of the ASUP PAN-AFRICAN SERVANT LEADERSHIP AWARD to Evangelist Parkins Ogede, in recognition of his meritorious service to the people of the state.
