This is absolutely nonsense. How and why should a strike by 2 million or so (every soul collecting a government entitlement) shut down a nation of 180 million people. What kind of silly system continues to support the suffering of so many on behalf of so few. Today the government came out to say that despite the strike, government salaries will be paid. Can that be said of the private sector or small businesses that will suffer now. This is why the people should force government out of businesses completely. The airports for example are prime business locations and thus should not be government owned except they serve only government purposes such as military airbases. Can you imagine this nonsene. When the American government shuts down you hardly notice it outside Washington DC and even within the state it concerns only those who have government business which is less than 20 percent of GDP. Here government is too big and domineering and this must change if this nation is to progress. The NLC is fighting for their members and their pockets using the general public which stands to gain nothing whatsoever as cannon fodder. When they eventually resume from the strike with their astronomical salaries you will still require their myriad of permits to do business and live your lives in peace and they will still exploit you, oppress you with their government power and force you to pay bribes. Why should I support and join in fighting for those lot and jeopardise my business in the process. They should vacate the airport immediately. Nonsense. 1 Like 1 Share |

bigtt76:The same statement like this was made to run down NLC efforts during agitation for reduction in fuel pump hike. If their demand is eventually heeded hope their staff would not be beneficiary. Black legging should be an offence if truly they are among NLC and must be met with stiff resistance. 1 Like |

Being informed by my client that its been shut as at an hour ago. I guess NLC needed to send a strong message to the FG and hit them where revenue generation would be painful. Now passenger and light goods traffic into and out of the country is in jeopardy. They may soon head for the Seaports and terminals. ASUU may soon join and with all this, it gradually shuts down the private sector as well especially those heavily reliant on imports to work. A pity. My own is that NUPENG should not just try anything! |

Lazy and lousy men parading as labour activists. Why not go and create the jobs for the people? You are are sitting on the jobs created by others while forming labour. Next they will steal the People's money and go to contest elections like the one formerly there. Rogues. 1 Like |

bigtt76: Ever been there? There are security agents there alright but bribe is what they catch not crime. As for the airport workers, they will never join the strike because the tips and side tax they are collecting daily is so much the salary no matter at all. Someone had to force them to behave. Hence the fight. 2 Likes |

crazygod: That’s strange. Reduction on which expenses? Stuffs like that are outside labour’s power, and indeed responsibility. The increase in minimum wage is long overdue. It’s the responsibility of the government to reduce their expenses so that they can increase the standard of living of their people. With all the shambles project they spend billions on, how has it benefitted the poor man that receives 18k in a month? That pay structure is not sustainable under the current economic realities. I am afraid I am with the NLC on this. |

crazygod: Don't tell a full grown adult what he means. He said exactly his opinion. Imagine the nonsense, even banks joined them thus stranding customers. All they want is to cripple the economy with their backwardness that shouldn't be in repertoire of 21st century behavior. Do you know what an airport is? Is it that they want flights to hang on the air or return back to their destination Its madness to me. |
