This is a very good question. From INEC FAQ page http://www.inecnigeria.org/?page_id=28 This means Senator Ademola Adeleke had resigned at 30days or earlier before submitting interest to contest Guber race for Osun. He will therefore not return to Senate. The Senate seat he vacated belonged to his deceased brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke who died in office. A bye-election in Osun won Ademola a succession to the seat of his dead brother. The Osun West Senatorial seat was won by Isiaka Adeleke (APC) in 2015 to convene the current 8th Senatorial Congress. Because the seat belongs to APC, they may likely not to replace it and just wait for next year to field a candidate for it. In another angle, they may decide to fill it so they can get the numbers for majority in the Congress. |
